Bulma should have thought on some prostetic for him in that movie-she was smart enought to create time machine but not soo much as to give an artificial arm

Perhaps this is the reason he was killed. It must be difficult to fight stronger opponents with just one arm. He might even have surpassed them in terms of ki, but the lack of a hand was his demise.
