History:

Sasser was another failed design for a heavy combat ship that Starfleet work on between 2370-2374, it had many technologies (updated) taken from Nebula and Galaxy class ships, however due fact that much more potential combat ships recently enter or are entering service, Sasser with large amount of technical problems was cancelled and only prototype was built, which remains guarding the Utopia Planitia for mos of its operational time.

While Sasser boosts strong weapons, it has relativly slow impulse engines and had problems that couldn't be fixed in short time. Because of its size it could hardly be designated as heavy frigate, more a cruiser, but starfleet didnt really pay attention on details since ship was not entered full production.

After the war Sasser was used to ferry diplomats all around Federation and beyond (to the neighbors), class was shown from few combat expiriences that even as well armed it was not up to the task for any serious combat. In the end ship end as patrol ship, been part of Utopia Planitia defense fleet.
