Here is my concept for Windows 8 startmenuits reduced to the basic functions that I USE
call it a mini startmenu. It will save space on tablets and small screen devices and still allow its main funtions.
The last bit is my idea for a search system where you select ur search engine and if for example you select google. Then the text and button will turn green and a google logo will appear when you type www before ur search word. And in doing so when you will press enter. IE will be opened with that search page.
All my ideas...

exactly.. i only use it for apps and i always type.. and other than that i use it to open my computer or control panel.. which by my idea will be moved to the superbar.. the 1st 2 icons you can see.

This is so awesome though. I'll try making my own concept. Can I use this as a base? Or can you share the PSD or something? xD

If only Microsoft had that logic
But it would be the first start button without a direct link to shut down the computer.
Another interesting move, that is already in Win 7, is the click move that is equal to a right-click on an icon of the superbar. I'm not sure but it could be more easy to use than a 1.5s hold...
I love the idea of the 2 faces ^^
But that's an excellent idea, a single menu that adapt to everything you do, that would turn the start menu into something really more important than now, and at the same time that would justify why they've done such a big start orb for something we merely use
Oh also about the "search on the web", maybe Microsoft logical would rather go to make a right-click on IE9 icon in the superbar and then the search bar would be at the bottom of the pop-up menu. That's one of the bad thing that Microsoft always do : keep internet with internet, start option with start menu, always everything together, too much logical, and in the end not so easy (fast) to use...

thanks for the reply
well.. its simpler to just type www and it will make the search an internet search
and about the shutdown.. yes i know about the click drag but click hold is simpler.. and ppl saying that how will users find it??
well obviously microsoft would add a starting guide to show users the new editions... and explain the basics of the new startmenu
my main concern was the waste of space.. on tablets and smaller devices any screen estate saved is appreciated.

Dude, I love it! You could probably make this happen, but only by making a third party application.
But...you use Bing over Google? Shame!!
