A fascinatingly minimalist/abstract view of the region.

Maps are fascinating, especially those that depict what was or what might have been, or might be in the future or elsewhere. What struck me about this map was the way rivers rise in the middle of nowhere and then vanish without ever reaching the sea or a lake in some cases. Removing our arbitrary state boundaries or political divisions returns us to the natural uninterrupted plan view of a stretch of anonymous territory that is just itself in outline, as carved out by nature.
