Description
Donald Gill was a small-time crook before he was hired by the criminal industrialist Justin Hammer to join his private army. Hammer had reclaimed the technology of Gregor Shapanka, the criminal known as Jack Frost and Blizzard, after his death, and Donnie was chosen to be the new Blizzard. Though his inexperience, bumbling nature and lack of confidence often made him a liability to his fellow villains, he would grow very loyal to Hammer for giving him a chance to turn his life around. When he learned Hammer had set him up to be captured by Iron Man, a crushed Donnie surrendered without a fight.

Donnie would eventually return to his life of crime, but his heart wasn't in it anymore. He was recruited into the Thunderbolts by Mach IV, who had worked with Donnie before during his time as the villainous Beetle. Though he was helpful and committed, Donnie's lack of confidence would continue to hold him back. He would grow stronger during his time with the group however, especially after Mach IV and the Fixer improved his suit's technology. After that team disbanded Donnie kept a low profile, but has seemingly begun to slip back into his criminal ways.
