Description
So this represents a pretty big change up for me, as you have no doubt noticed how much I have been experimenting with different coloring and shading styles lately if you have been following my work. I did this for a role playing campaign (Pathfinder rather than straight up D&D) I am starting up with some friends online, and this is a scene from a test session I ran to see if people liked their characters, what I am capable of throwing at people and whatnot. It is Gothic horror themed and VERY Castlevania inspired, and I am drawing a lot of what I will be including from that series. This creature in the background, for example, is almost a direct lift from Dracula X: Rondo of Blood (it also appeared in other Castlevania titles later, such as Castlevania 64/Legacy of Darkness and Portrait of Ruin), and I even had it chase them down a hallway after it had been chopped in half by a combination of a big sword and a door about a size too small for it to fit through. The girl (named Marley) is an NPC that I devised for the party to travel with, and is meant to be ineffectual if not entirely useless, since her only means of helping is to spam what few curing and buffing spells she has all day. She actually was drawn first, and I tested this new style out on her character picture. I included her again because I am having all the PCs draw their own characters for the time being. The style is inspired by a combination of the 12th color in Blazblue Continuum Shift plus a Castlevania Aria of Sorrow image that I believe was done for the OST cover. It has received quite a bit of positive remarks from my friends, and I will be using it as the style for any future pictures for the campaign. I plan on doing a lot, so expect more like this in the future.
Oh, and that Rat is the girl's familiar, you see. His name is Mr. Ratburn.
UPDATE: Campaign didn't end up happening due to several things, mostly me getting serious about art and realizing that running this thing would have taken way more time and effort than I should reasonably put into anything I'm not getting paid to do. The art style is still nice though, and it's still likely that it will return in my work somewhere. I may also use the NPC girl and some of the other planned characters for something else, so I've moved this to "other original series" for the time being. I basically put about as much thought into this as the vast majority of what's in that gallery anyway.

Huh, could've sworn you were. Just a term used to denote members of a very obscure forum. How did I come to watch you again?
No prob.

Probably from my Mario Monsters Art. I don't work for the site anymore, but hey, if you like this picture, it should be evident that I still enjoy drawing monsters. I happen to still like Mario quite a bit too, so more Mario art is not out of the realm of possibility, especially if people ask for it.
