Papyrus handling this well.
This is really only half of the conversation, I hate splitting a scene in half like this but there was just no way I could fit the whole thing into one comic feasibly. So the next one will pick up right from here. The conversation is really meant to be taken as a whole, but this was just the most naturally place to break it in half when I was going through it. What can you do.
Did most of this on my laptop, so some things might look a little off. Not sure how long the next one will take... we'll see. Hopefully not too long...

It's not nothing, or at least wasn't till recently.
What happened to all the equipment, everything that could actually bring some memories to the surface is gone.
Not to mention the question of how Flowey found this place and what exactly he plans on doing here.

Well it did, it didn't just stop existing, both the brothers and the CORE still exist, his efforts and work still exist he simply is not remembered for any of it.

I think he has stopped existing. I can't remember if that was explained in game, but the implication I'm getting here is that he's been erased from existence, but only from a certain point. A bit like the resets. He doesn't exist anymore. There are shadows left over, but he's been erased. Which is why neither of them can remember anything. There's nothing to remember.

But he did exist before the accident, if he truly stopped existing entirely then both the CORE and the brothers would go with him.
The only thing that stopped existing is the memories of him.

I think that's what the core does though. It works the same was as the resets. It happened, but it didn't. He did exist....but then he stopped. So there are still little remnants of him around but HE is gone.

In fact, we have loads of evidence to the contrary.
Heck, the idea that the memory of him being erased is susp, being almost completely fabricated by the fandom. (A lot of evidence points to WD Gaster being Sans...)

I know it doesn't make sense but that seems to e how Undertail works.
Take the resets for example. They're basically mild forms of time travel, because with every save state, you're saving a moment in time. If you reset to that time, then the events that happened between the moment you saved and the moment you reset should logically never have happened.
But the issue with that is that it creates a paradox because in order for you to know what to try again, you would have needed to reset in a future that no longer exists. It shouldn't be possible, but it is.
That just seems to be how the lore of this game works. There's like this weird middle stage between existing and not.

Think for a moment what you're saying, your comparing apples to oranges, the CORE is powered by geothermal energy, not DETERMINATION.
Whether G was scattered across time and space by the CORE or another creation of his, it erased the memory of his existence, not his existence itself.
everything in the comic suggests this, in the game itself nothing suggests that G is forgotten at all, it's an assumption based on assuming that Gaster speaks through goner kid, goner doesn't necessarily even have anything to do with Gaster at all.
At least one collection of data suggests Gaster is Sans, due to the fact that he was slower at working then Alphys, which should hint at either being worse then Alphy with the whole secret-keeping, extremely lazy, or both... OH WAIT!

I don't think they ARE apples and oranges though. That's what I'm saying. In the context of this comic, we're not given any detailed explanation about why the core is the way it is. All we're told is that it's unstable, but it obviously has some kind of magical property to it since falling into it apparently erases everyone's memory of you.
But the thing is, Gaster hasn't just been forgotten. There's research material from him still around with passages blanked out. Like on this page
If it's just his memory that's been erased, they would still be intact, wouldn't they. Also there's the whole deal with at black thing that keeps cropping up all over the place. He hasn't just been forgotten, something's happened to him, and considering this world does deal with the concept of changing time, I don't think it too outlandish to presume that the two just might be connected.

That's the thing, those things still exist, and the only one who could have made them is simply removed.
I think that those things haven't been affected at all, it's just nobody can perceive any of the things associated with G.
think of it as we are watching from an inside perspective, all those redactions are not truly there, anything truly missing besides G himself was either pulled into the void by memory heads or simply not perceived.
I say all this because of the dreams Pap and Asgore experienced, where G's name is similarly blanked out, it's not true [REDACTED], it's simply their minds deciding not to see.
