Description Texture maps on the ships updated, and I'm close to having the police vehicles ready.

Background vehicles also in design, hover-buses, light cargo, persoanl etc.

A big question to you all: Motion blur. Should I try it?

More to come!

I saw recently some work which only used motion blur on the engines/exhausts. Giving it a heat shimmer effect. Without going for the whole zoom quality.

Interesting.... I'll have a go. I hadn't thought of doing it that way.

i dunno about the blur, it tends to make 3d scenes messy, but by all means, give it a go, i like how this is coming along, are you gonna do a big render when its finished?

Hope so - if it doesn't kill my machine. Render time at the moment is 23hrs

vue 4.2 and a slightly low-spec machine.

It's the volumetric atmospher and the very large object space that kill the system.

ahh, yeah, volumetric stuff takes bloody ages to render...

lasers also take ages

the only crit on this version is that the lights are too bright. especially on the ships.

I see what you mean...
I'll fix that on the next render.

i like it. i think the new camera position is better but i also think that some fog from the old atmosphere would be very nice. the ships also look better. nice job.

Yeah, this was a quick render without volumetric atmospherics, which give a render time of about 36hrs. The final version WILL be volumetric however.

I'm working on a police interceptor, which will be trying to catch the hot-rods, which will also have a rather natty paint-job when I'm finished!

Textures and structers are great. You are using the sources and options of Vue D'esprit perfectly !

Awww, shucks....

I'm really getting to love some of the things that Vue lets me do. I'm saving up for 5 Infinite, half way there so far!

I dunno nothin bout 3d art, but this is sweet. I love the coloration. Awesome pic, definately faving it. It reminds me of stealth bombers, they're so quiet, and the air is so cold and thin, and yet they sail over at the speed of sound... Ahh...

I wanted them to be kinda like hot-rods, civilian, sleek and ludicously over-powered in the engine department

cool idea maybe make the glass more transparent then and the engines a bit smaller so it looks more civilian like

I like the idea of the glass - although that means modeling the cockpit and pilot..... and I don't have the tools... hmmm.
