Fibra's personality in a nutshell: Professor Snape+Dr. House

Age: 28
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 135 lbs
Occupation: Medic for a pirate crew
Status: Not loyal the the Irken Empire.

Fibra (Fee-brah) is both a doctor and medicine expert...and a master of toxins and poisons, which he learned about later in life. He has highly sensitive antennae, the smallest of which is a harmless mutation. He is a member of Tex's gang, and operates as both the doctor and the trump card--that is to say, when all else is failing on a raid or mission, Fibra is ordered to send out some horrible toxic gas or poison to simply make the opposition drop dead in their tracks. He rarely leaves the main ship, the Leviathan, preferring to spend his time holed up in his laboratory, coming up with new poisons and more efficient medicines. New medications are a primary concern for him because his boss, Tex, has this REALLY annoying super-efficient immune system that adapts to medication and anesthetic at such a high rate that he quickly becomes immune to the medication itself.

Backstory:

Prior to joining Tex's gang, Fibra was yet another normal drone of the Irken Empire. At a young age, he showed promise in basic medical classes and was transferred to an academy specializing in nursing and health. At the end of his last year of medical school (about 18, since Irken society DOES revolve around the military and efficiency from a young age) Fibra enlisted in the basic army core as a field medic. His lean build and weak constitution for physical demand made basic boot camp almost impossible for him. In fact, the only way he passed basic training was by cheating, which he did by, well...getting the Commander-in-charge drunk/drugged, changing his grades on the Commander's computer, then when the commander woke up, Fibra acted like he had just gone into a long-winded explanation of why he should be given a passing grade, and that he had gotten the commander's permission to change his grade. Confused, the commander vaguely went along with it, and thus Fibra passed.

Once basic training was passed, and with a couple of friends made by the end of it, Fibra went on to be a medic on a few military missions. After a particularly traumatic one, when he suffered from PTSD, Fibra was discharged and sent to work at a hospital. After hopping between about 3 different hospitals, he finally settled to be a surgeon at a well-to-do hospital, that was also a joint prison and mental asylum. Dangerous, but handy to have all three of those facilities close together. He worked in multiple departments, including pediatrics--that didn't last long. He's terrible with kids. He was not well-liked by his peers but grudgingly respected.

He was neutral about his life in general. One day, though, a couple of arrested pirates were taken to the hospital to be patched up before being hauled off to jail. Fibra interacted with them very little, but later that night, a rescue party, led by the pirate captain himself, Tex, was sent after the captured pirates. It was sheer bad luck Tex happened to spot Fibra down a hall---Tex immediately grabbed him and held a gun to his head, threatening him and taking him hostage to avoid any gunfights with security or police. Fibra was dragged back to their ship once the rescue party retrieved their team members then tossed into a holding cell. Tex called the hospital and smoothly demanded a ransom of one and a half million credits in exchange for their top medic's life. The hospital had three hours to respond and send the payment. If they didn't, Tex would simply shoot the hostage.

3 hours passed..and nothing happened. No calls came in. The hospital didn't come through.

SO...Tex headed off to shoot Fibra and probably dump his body in space, which he didn't look forward to doing, nor his crew. No one liked the thought of murdering an innocent doctor in cold blood. Upon finding out no one had even TRIED to help him, Fibra lost any determination left to live and told the captain, fine, go ahead and shoot. Nothing to go back to anyway. He'd lost all faith in the Empire and its people. Tex hesitated, thought it over, then offered Fibra a position as the medic aboard the ship, since there was obviously no better life to go back to. Fibra thought it over briefly, then agreed. And with that, Fibra became the medic of the pirate ship, the Leviathan. Trust from the crew came slowly for Fibra, who certainly did not seem like the most trustworthy character. But after proving himself after several missions by patching up or saving the lives of several crew members, he was properly accepted as one of the crew's most important members.

And that's where he is in life now, and quite happy with it.
