Pencil Drawing of Preston Jones (Commission)On acid free mat board 15” x 24”
I don’t often do commissions but this one is an exception. It was a great drawing to work on; Preston has a very intriguing face, a serious, deep, gaze… a thinker and artist, but with more then a hint of kindness.

So amazing I can't believe my own eyes. what type of pencil you use? its it blessed with a spell or something? good lord. how the.... how long you been drawing? You have that picture on a poster board or something? Dang I want to know everything...I will pay you to be my art teacher.... thats kinda intimidating i look at your work then i want to just drop the pencil and give up. You know, I'm quite a frequent visitor to your gallery, ever since I've found you picture among the favourites of and it's always amazed me how unusual faces you choose for your portraits... How individuality always shines through your works, how much character and personality they have. This one is no exception. And of course the realism is overwhelmingly, eye-blindingly perfect.

I now know what is possible with the pencil. Thanks for the inspiration. Its now up to me to find out whats possible from the person. I'd love to be a fly on the wall of your studio to learn how you do it. I need all the help I can get.

G-d armin, i really can't get over this drawing. it isn't just a gorgeous, (drop-dead gorgeous i should say) rendering, but you caught so much spirit. never met theman obviously, but i feel that i could really like the man!
the textures are as amazing as they are stunning. i really don't know how you manage it. your portrait of larry butcher has been my favorite until now... this ties easilly.
oh... btw: to prove just how slow/obtuse i can be~ only recently while driving to work did i realize that nimra was armin backwards.

Is it possible NOT to feel in awe at the skill involved in your art? I don't think so. I love the little touches that add dimension into the image, the distortion in the lens of the glasses, the intricacy of the knit of the sweater. The fact that he looks realisically weathered.. This deserves to be in an exhibition!

I'm always impressed with art critics, the ones who can sit around a masterpiece and say, "here, the artist is showing us this... or... this brush stroke reveals that..." all I can do in the presence of greatness is stand there, staring at the beauty and perfection, wishing I had words to decribe its incredible impact on my artistic soul, looking at it in wonder, speechless, mouth agape, kinda like I'm doing now...
