Description
Here's a Vampirella piece I did, so that I could have some original art to sell at San Diego.I did Vampirella covers for Harris Comics, back in the 1990s. The reason why there are none in my gallery is because I don't think I ever did the character justice.

I love the compelling eyes, and the leading landscape behind. As always, you draw the audience into your image. Of course, your capacity to make something like flesh so supple, the wispy clouds so airy, and the blacks and outlines so crisp and organic still amazes.

Don't be too hard on yourself I remember those covers as being good work. In this sketch Vampi definitely has more of an 'edge' to her though than I remember - if my memory is serving me correctly, it's been a while.

Hi Adam.As a fan of the original artist Pepe Gonzalez who maked her be on the top,I must say that these covers are really nice by two reasons:you make the character well updated to this time,seems really credible,not a bad imitation like others I have seen,and two:you line is very elegant,you give her class,and that's more for me.Pepe has died this year,so good featuring to his character having a REAllY good artist drawing her.Regards from here.

The depth in this is incredible, the bats especially pop off of the page. I really admire your variety of lines and shapes. Beautiful work.

Adam Hughes NOT doing Vampirella justice ?!? You could sneeze on a piece of paper , call it Vampi and it'd do the character justice !!! You have lost your mind if you think an Adam Hughes Vampi is not justice in and of itself !!! Now some of the artists who have been working on the comic . . . they can't claim the same , SHEESH !! What have they DONE to her !?!
Artists always are their worst critics , and I figure if an artist is someone whom I admire , then they must be pretty DAMN awesome and can toss out a 10 second sketch that makes you go " WHOA !! Why can't I do that ?!? "
You still make me jealous , even though I'm quite beyond that as art goes . You are one of my " Babemasters " , and I still go to your art when I need to get inspired ( and THAT is a short list . ) I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on Triad Toys' 1:6 " Ghost " figure .

This one certainly does Vampi justice! And all of your previous Vampirella pieces did the character justice as well. You helped define her for so many artists to come. Don't sell yourself short, you are a master.

Your inking on this piece is brilliant Adam! Very precise. Is that a lizard i see sneaking a peek at Vampi?
p.s. I love the background trees! Especially the laying of them using markers to simulate fog.
