Description
The fifth and final page of the "Basic Training" tutorial I did for WIZARD magazine, back in the halcyon year of 1997... This part's from the "speed line" section, featuring Gen13's Roxy beating the snot outta Grunge. Time was very, very short on this feature, with no time for inking, so I did this "story" solely in pencils.Much thanks to "Megasad"/ Simon B. for the scan, as I no longer possess a copy of the issue in question...

This article was my Bible for the longest time. You have no idea... I can't find that issue either, and it saddens me, for I wanted to show someone else that was asking me questions about manga creation...
I have always had such a great deal of respect for you because of how much work you've done to help idiots like me try and break into the business. (I haven't actually tried yet, lol. But I read articles and get shiny eyes)

sometimes...there can be too many lines.
thats one item that often puts me off with anime/manga.

That was another awsome strip of my two favorite Gen13ers. Nice turtorial, just have a question about that first part of the strip though.
Was that a dodge ball Roxy threw at Grunge or a bowling ball?

Sweet!.. I remembered this pages, but never got the chance to really take a good look at them.
...but then again it's never to late to learn.
BTW...Warren, back on high school GEN13 was the one of the most influential series; I never was a big comic book fan, but i did recognized a great drawing style when I encountered one.
And Your's was simply amazing, very dynamic, manga stylized, and at the moment full whit bodacious babes, and hard cored mech-creatures...every teens fantasy.
Thanks, and I'm glad your on DA now. Take care, and C'YA

3B Mars Lumograph 2mm leads (in the familiar blue leadholder) for the con-sketch stuff, and presumably for the Wizard illos as well (though I'm not sure, I coulda been using 2B leads back then).
