Description Just an interpretation for the alignment chart meme, as pertaining to the Showa series of Godzilla movies. The quotes are all of my own invention, based on what I think they might say about their situation and worldview. I took some time in thinking about where to place them - some took more time than others. Enjoy!

Liking this. Β The quotes feel like the read the characters a tee.

With Megalon (Lawful Neutral) - a joke of a kaiju, the quote actually gives him some depth.Β

No offense to Megalon, I'm not a hater, but the film he's in, doesn't have a strong track record.

I agree. I liked it as a kid, but as a adult, Godzilla vs Megalon is lame, but is less gruesome than Godzilla vs Hedorah, which had a scary poster(which is why I didn't watch that film as a kid).

HardCoreCrocomire [2016-12-15 03:00:48 +0000 UTC]

eh, ghidorah and hedorah should switch places. Hedorah lives off of human waste, and is considered evil because it's drawn to mankind's pollution, thus hurting the world by merely showing up. Ghidorah however has been actively trying to destroy earth since the beginning.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Adiraiju In reply to HardCoreCrocomire [2016-12-18 04:36:58 +0000 UTC]

Not a bad argument, but Hedorah doesn't exactly show remorse for the murders he/they/it commits. You can argue he's got something of a "Blue and orange morality" thing going, but he seems to enjoy making others suffer just a little too much to justify his nature. Not only that, but Ghidorah has allied himself with alien beings who would probably fall under the line of "Lawful Evil" fairly frequently (The Kilaaks and Nebula M Spacehunters come to mind), showing that he doesn't really align with order OR chaos. Even if he planned to backstab them all along, he still worked as their ally long enough to keep himself under control.Β

Adiraiju In reply to Kaijukid23 [2016-08-14 00:16:10 +0000 UTC]

Well, Chaotic Neutral can potentially aid the heroes, but its motivations will generally be completely bizarre or confusing, and it's just as likely to aid a villainous force as a heroic one.
Neutral evil almost never aids the heroes, and when it does, it's purely for selfish motivations that will generally screw the heroes over in the end.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kaijukid23 In reply to Adiraiju [2016-08-14 02:09:43 +0000 UTC]

So, Chaotic Neutral only do what they feels like, without any concrete intention to hurt anyone, while Neutral Evil only do what ot feels like with a hidden agenda. Thanks

Heh, awesome, though to me, true neutral would probably be 'I will save my home' rather than 'save Earth', since saving parts of Earth that are of no real interest to you is a pretty good thing (and I've never seen Anguirus go to far from Monster Island anyway).

Adiraiju In reply to Sligking [2016-01-04 15:18:40 +0000 UTC]

That makes some sense, though I just assumed that Anguirus figures that anything that affects the planet at large will affect Monster Island too, sooner or later.
Thank you very much!

kahnac [2015-12-18 02:24:28 +0000 UTC]

These are all fantastic. And definitely serve well to explain how their characters work:
-King Caesar is the noble, and compassionate guardian who lives to keep his people safe, and will risk his own life to do so.
-Mothra may be a benevolent guardian, but she is willing to cause great destruction if somebody wrongs her somehow.
-Godzilla seems like he does still see humanity as something of a potential threat, but he understands that they're as much a part of the earth as him. And only he can makes sure that they don't make the same mistakes which made him what he is.
-Guess all i can say is: Megalon is like a dark foil to King Caesar. Almost alot about him mirrors Caesar, except for the fact that his loyalty is only to seatopia, and noone else.
-Anguirus is pretty much a loner fighting for himself, but is willing to fight for his home.
-Kumonga is just a big, creepy spider doing what she does best. Need i say more?
-Mechagodzilla1 is simply a servant carrying out the will of his creators. Pretty straightforward, if anything.
-King Ghidorah is literally, like you said, an ancient enigma who's motives are a mystery. It is possible that after a millenia of watching others die, he grew mad, and soon decided life was meaningless, and wanted to purge it from the universe completely. And he learned he enjoyed being a sadist as he did so.
-Hedorah is like Hexus: an embodiment of poisonous toxins, and fumes whose only purpose is to bring destruction everywhere he goes, all so he can feed on the toxicity which results from it. And the fact humanity provides him with what he needs shows how he's basically our own inevitable doom made real. And he's freaky as hell, too.
I can always imagine the kaiju acting, and talking like this if they talked. But it's always more fun seeing other people imagine it, too. So awesome job on this one, dude. It's really fantastic.

Adiraiju In reply to kahnac [2015-12-18 13:11:07 +0000 UTC]

Aye, that mostly sums 'em up, though there's a few expansions that I could probably explain for my interpretations.
-King Ghidorah can probably be best likened to Makuta Teridax from back in Bionicle's first season, when he was just "The Makuta": not the evil mastermind we all know and dread, but a flailing, screaming, eldritch-abomination-type horror as old as the universe itself, with supreme confidence in his power. I really can see him mimicking the speech from the end of the Mata Nui Online game:
"Godzilla, it's a trick! We must destroy him!"
"Destroy me? You cannot destroy me. No more than you can destroy the sea, or the wind... or the void."
-Mechagodzilla can probably be best compared to the Terminator in his personality - no sadism, no viciousness, just cold, mechanical precision. "It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear.Β And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead."
-Mothra's incentive for protecting the Elias/Cosmos/whatever is related to the fact that they literally have part of Mothra's mind and soul within them. Without them, her sense of ethics is literally gone, and she feels only an overwhelming drive to get them back.Β
Thank you for looking over this, you summed most of them out well! I did indeed have Hexxus in mind when considering Hedorah, and the rest were summarized nicely!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kahnac In reply to Adiraiju [2015-12-18 20:04:13 +0000 UTC]

Okay. That sounds good.
-Makuta Teridax? Huh. That's funny: but i never heard anyone compare him with Showa Ghidorah before. But considering i'm more than familiar with Bionicle, ESPECIALLY the Makuta. And considering how he's also Bionicle's satan/Sauron, you can imagine how so. But i do remember how he was depicted when the toa first faced him. And so, i can see what you mean by that. Besides, i enjoy seeing King Ghidorah depicted as a lovecraftian horror from beyond time, and space, who lives only for destruction. It makes him both terrifying in concept, and intimidating as a monstrosity beyond imagination. Also, that quote is awesome, and gave me a cool idea for something.
-You know what? Terminator would be an excellent way to describe this thing. Especially since i think they did a reference anyway when they had it disguised as Godzilla. And it makes as effective a killing machine for kaiju, as the other one did for humans. So it's a pretty rock-solid comparison to me.
-Yes, that is true. Mothra's faeries are a part of her, mind and soul. And as such, she will do everything in her power to keep them safe. Like her own children. Though it does explain why she would go so far as to attack Tokyo, and destroy much of it just to find them. That just goes to show how devoted she is to keeping them safe. Just as much as her protectiveness over the earth itself.
You're very welcome, sir. I'm always very open minded when it comes to character concepts, and the inspirations for each of them. If only because of how fun it is. As for Hedorah: i figured as much. Especially considering, when you think about it, there really isn't anything funny about him at all. When done right, he's downright freaky as sh*t! But either way, i'm glad you liked what i said about all of them. Because i intend to do the same for Heisei, and Millenium, too. Very soon, too.

Thanks! It's even better when you remember that Mechagodzilla debuted a full decade before the Terminator, so it's a reference that runs the other was around. What idea did I give you from that quote?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

kahnac In reply to Adiraiju [2015-12-19 15:53:42 +0000 UTC]

Oh, right! I forgot about that. It's funny how that often works, isn't it? Basically, an idea for a possible fanfic around that. As a possible first encounter with King Ghidorah.

Adiraiju In reply to kahnac [2015-12-21 13:42:26 +0000 UTC]

That's an awesome idea!Β
That could be interesting, especially since the first encounter with King Ghidorah in the film canon involved Godzilla getting trounced in the first few seconds, and having Mothra and Rodan to back him up being the only thing that even slowed him down. This has possibilities!

kahnac In reply to Adiraiju [2015-12-21 15:13:28 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. And it did help showcase how strong King Ghidorah actually is. And that only several kaiju fighting at once can beat him. He's really the first kaiju that required team effort in order to defeat. But either way, i'm glad you like the concept. I'll try and get it done as soon as i can.
