Living beneath the ice sheets of the northern arctic, the arctic mermaid is fiercely protective of her territory and her friends. Picture here wielding an enchanted ice blade forged from some of the oldest ice on Earth, she protect her seal friend from an unknown threat.Drawn and painted in Corel Painter with a Wacom Cintiq Companion.
Had a lot of fun designing this concept. About halfway through is when I landed on the Nordic influences whether suggesting a kinship with ancient viking legends or merely that they are resourceful and have used simply what the seas have brought to them one way or another ....
