Thanks. Originally named this Planetarium but Helix came up with Hubble so I ran with that.

Sparkly, and definitely cosmic. It does feel like one of those really long-distance Hubble pictures. Good going on both the fractal and the title.

Normally I zoom in on fractals but this time I started with the spiral and zoomed out to find all the other sections.

DeepChrome In reply to Aeires [2005-07-10 07:12:39 +0000 UTC]

It paid off. At first I thought it was a fairly straightforward spirals piece, but after fullviewing it I realized it looked MUCH better this way than zoomed in.

Between the composition and the B&W, it really draws you in. Great Job!

Aeires In reply to Vividlight [2005-07-10 06:33:48 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. Almost was tempted to add mixed colors in this but the galaxy look kept me moving in b/w.

you do not see many b&W fractals
I am glad I have
nice job
love the cracked mirror inconsistencies of line and
some really sharp areas
fav

Thank you very much. I think color is such a critical element in fractals that most people decide to make them as colorful as possible but it's good to do some monochrome ones from time to time as well. I have a few that I've done and I'm always amazed at the depth that comes out when deeper tones are used.

absolutely I gree
colour is important to me but sometimes the effect you get by limiting colour in your work are just amazing

Awesome! I like a well done greyscale fractal, and this certainly fits the bill.

Aeires In reply to FarDareisMai [2005-07-10 06:30:11 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Every now and then I love doing b/w fractals. Amazing how much depth comes out when you break it down to the basic two colors.

FarDareisMai In reply to Aeires [2005-07-13 17:12:01 +0000 UTC]

I agree. I think it forces the artist to focus on the form and composition rather than the colors.

What a coincidence that both you and =a-neon-devil-breath submitted interesting B&W fractals yesterday.

The starry web on the background looks fascinating, but I don't like the fact that it's discontinuous in some parts. The three wonderful nebula-like patterns (sorry for my ignorance, I wouldn't be able to name them by the formulas) look identical at first, but after a while I started noticing some small differences, is it just me, or you really took the time to make them unique?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeires In reply to jSepia [2005-07-10 06:27:01 +0000 UTC]

I didn't even know that the Hubble was being dropped in funding when I made this.

The gridlines being discontinuous is just one of those things that happen in Fractal Explorer at times. If this was UF I might be able to tweak it out and move things on top of each other but FE is only a single layer program. As for the spirals, I was actually just working on the main one. I didn't know the other ones were there until I zoomed out to see what else the image had.

Nice job on the web. I like it. I can see how the fractal is using the "inverse" way of coloring it, judging by the shapes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeires In reply to FractalMBrown [2005-07-10 06:15:25 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Turned down the saturation all the way and added just a slight bit of contrast in the gradient editor. Not quite as powerful as UF's gradient editor, but it works well enough.

Beautiful, love how the strict grid-pattern dissolves into the more organic-looking fractal clouds!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeires In reply to Ellygator [2005-07-10 05:29:08 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. The grid actually came together into a cross hair pattern, kinda like a spotting target cross hair. Fit the image theme well but I had to zoom in too far to see it and lost the spiral galaxies so I zoomed out instead.

Nice polar grid effect... I wonder if it's possible to do something like that using Ultrafractal?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeires In reply to 0SupermarineSpitfire [2005-07-10 05:13:04 +0000 UTC]

I was thinking of something similar when I was working on this. I've seen some things that were close but not so well patterned. Knowing UF is as powerful as it is I'm sure it can be done but I don't dream of spending the time looking through all those formulas for the right combination.
