wow. very nice. is fractal explorer freeware and easy to understand? any disadvantages and advantages?

just curious ^^

[link]

Good:

It is free.
Childs play compared to UF.
Not only can it do fractals, but IFS images as well [link]
Renders very quick for 90% of it's images.
Good amount of formulas with gradients controls similar to UF as well as it's own setup.

Bad:

Single layer image so you are limited with what you can do unless you do it all postwork (such as layering images).
No control over the image when considering stretch, skew options.
Render controls are not as clean as UF but can be precise depending on which formula is used.
No mapping/masking abilities.

Misc:

If you try it out, download the main file first and open it, then download the other two files and open them into the main files folder. They add more formulas and options to the program.

On the front page to their website, right hand side is a link called How To Use Fractal Explorer. It's a good tutorial I first used when I learned the program.

Awesome design, chief. Dark, intricate, mysterious, and looks very different to your other works. I like the direction you've taken with this one.

Thanks. Been a long time since digging into Fractal Explorer. I used to make all my work using that program but moved onto apophysis and Ultra Fractal since. Hit a major creative dry spot so I dug out the old program again.

the world-wide scientific community is fighting george bush's decision to let the hubble go into disrepair and become "space junk" . it is one of the most important scientific tools of our time.

very nice fractal too

So Bush would rather spend his country's money on a spreading his little empire...I mean democracy....with bombs and trumped-up charges than worry about the advancement of science and human knowledge. If he doesn't want to worry about what's going on in the universe around us, why worry about whether people on the other side of the world think the way he does - why not concentrate on problems at home?

yeah even in farenheit 911 he said he would ratehr be a dictator than president. i dont like him at all. that man brings such dispair. i dont think he worries at all. just the mother dollar.

- that is a thing most unwise for one who claims to be spreading democracy to say! And yet it may be the most straightforward thing I've heard of him saying........It's true, he seems to stick to forms of strategy that don't require a lot of thought, and ignores the things that do . And a cash crop certainly doesn't hurt.....him.

i am worried about the future
there is a bill in the senate to allow a change of the constitution to allow foreign born people to become president
and guess who they have in mind?

the now govenor of california

Old arnie, huh? I don't know much about his politics (though his past tendancies of disrespectfulness towards women have put him down in my measure), but I must say, that's an interesting prospect. What kind of a governor has he been? What party does he support?

he is a republican but asppointed equal nimbers for his staff of democrats and rep's. he is still doing things people disagree with but i bet time will tell... he is a hopeful entity here even thouigh he has been a bit contradictory. i am willing to wait to see how well he balances the defecit that grey davis and feinstein created.

Agreed. Even though it has never operated at full potential it still gave us images far more impressive than anyone had ever expected. Bush wants to put a man on Mars but doesn't want to take care of things in his own back yard.
