Description
WARNING: File is quite big. D:Requirements: A workable mouse/tablet, Photoshop 7 (other versions should be okay too, since there's no fancy function used)
I skipped the Hair/Eye tutorial, because I didn't have nice pic/lineart for it yet...So tutorial on cel-shade first, this is more of a walkthrough. Hahahahaha, my explainations are so vague...XDDDD; Anyway, enjoy, and feel free to ask questions. I'll try to answer, if I can. Just because I do this, doesn't make me an expert...>o<

Noob question but, why do you need that extra colored bg?

akemi-shuu In reply to wizard898 [2007-03-09 04:45:25 +0000 UTC]
So that it is easier to notice any colors outside of the lineart.

err... hello ^O^
i'm new to Photoshop, and a friend of mine showed me your tutorial
how exactly did you do the lineart layer, and how did you make the background transparent without affecting the drawing itself... and how did you make the background layer too???
obviously, i'm really new to this

One question, that never seems to be answered in these tutorials. In your step #2, there's blotches of color everywhere, how did you get rid of all the white covering up his face? Just select/invert/delete?

akemi-shuu In reply to Hi-no-Taki [2006-05-07 05:30:25 +0000 UTC]
Yup, manually erase with the Eraser tool, or use the Polygonal tool. :3

FINALLY >_<
((btw syu, you might want to use the grouping option [ctrl+g]? It prevents the base layer from being erased, and the colours don't go out of the base area either [kinda works like lasso/preserve transparency, so it's easier to draw and clean because of the no extra erasing))
AND HOW ARE YOU NOT AN EXPERT *gonk* ;-; you lie!

wai~ you're tutorials are amazing! =^_^=
hmm.. i have a question =^_^= when you color of the hair... ummm the colors on the skin have been covered by the color of the hair, what did you do to remove the colors of the hair that covered the skin that has been colored?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
akemi-shuu In reply to inubelle [2006-05-06 06:35:08 +0000 UTC]
You can manually erase it with the Erase tool, or use polygonal lasso.
