Description
This is a commission that was completed a week or so ago, to show to an editor. The main character is Jon, currently struggling with alcoholism and creepy demons. I had a lot of fun designing the demon.
18 hours in Photoshop.
EDIT: WOW A DD in the middle of Hurricane Humberto (it's about to go over us as I type)...THANK YOU!

The demon... is excellent. When one says "demon," one immediately assumes fangs, horns, and the color red, or some kind of living or undead creature.
That demon... is mechanical, which is awesome beyond belief. And it's all tin and clockwork-y, like something from a Miyazaki film....
And the overall impact... superb. A man struggles alone with his inner demons, which are embodied by the afore-mentioned awesome-beyond-belief mechanization.
This is visual poetry, and you rule.

The demon when looked from thumbnail pic on front page -it looked like a grimreaper. I just thought that was a cool effect. (I don't know if you were going for that, but I just noticed it)

Only thing I don't like about it is the very awkward position of the man's legs; They are very straight and proper when compared to his sagging upper form, and don't seem appropriate for the piece.
But the rest is very nice.

Thank you! It was a lot of fun to draw the machine parts.
And the hurricane didn't do much to our house, we just have a bunch of pecans all over the back and branches everywhere.

That sounds like the right school ^^. As so I remember my aunt lost her backyard to Rita a couple years ago, but then again this is just a tiny thing compared to that.

This is a wonderful piece - love the way that the protagonist is slightly hunched, and the bottles at his feet - it's a real representation of the struggle of alcolohism in that aspect. I also love the darker shadings on his face. They bring out the mood of the piece brilliantly. The demon itself was a perfect depiction - not too steotype-horror, but with just enough of that creepy element to make the viewer get tingles up their spine - I love it!
