Description
If you follow my Instagram, I've posted several sketchbook sketches of brain creatures with spinal cords for tails/tendrils; something familiar, yet portrayed in surreal fashion. And given my penchant for making paintings, I decided to finally make one with the medium.
This was a painting I started when I was at Konsplosion back in September (started it right after finishing the SpaceGodzilla painting, in fact), and I had some time to finish it while I was at NEA Game Fest this past weekend. It was quite the challenge since I didn't apply a background, though I still used my method of "adding light" to a silhouette. And man, I still can't get over how the "body" (the brain itself) turned out. A simple use of coral (pink), light blue, white, and orange made it look so gooey and squishy, even I was getting a little grossed out.
8x10 canvas; acrylics

Ever seen a 1950s era science fiction film called "Fiend Without A Face"? Scientist tries to create a lifeform of pure mental brain thought but winds up creating invisible evil brain sucking creatures who also need atomic power. This design you did would be perfect for a new Hollyweird horror remake.
Great work Ray.

Looks like the kindness alien from courage the cowardly dog. I really like it.
