Description "When Tyrannosaurs Fly"

Alioramus remotus, generic pachycephalosaurid. A digital painting of a juvenile Alioramus pouncing onto a small pachycephalosaur.

I started the initial pencil sketch last year, inspired by a photo of a leopard leaping onto a warthog. I haven't tried a dynamic pose like this in a while, so it was a lot of fun to draw and paint.

Completed in early March 2019.

Done using Photoshop CC and pencils.

Marvelous. Kinda reminds me of Charles Robert Knight’s “Leaping Laelaps” unobtainium13.files.wordpress.… which was actually way ahead of its time in dinosaur biology the 1890s and early 20th century, when common opinion at the time was that dinosaurs were just huge dumb reptiles which lived in swamps. It even gets a reference in 1998’s “T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous” but with Deinonnychus in place of the “Laelaps” (see through 0:27-0:45) youtu.be/QhkSISz6n7A
