I have a question/problem...
I'm using the trial version of PS CS5, and when I go to resize my finished lineart(so it isn't huge), it doesn't work. I do exactly what the tutorial said, but Photoshop doesn't do anything. I hit "OK" and nothing happens.
Any help would be much appreciated. ;;

Hmmm. For some reason, my lines always turn out grey-ish even though I use black.. Maybe it's my screen?
ANyway, thanks so much for the tutorial! it was great! Just one question, when I use texture, my line just stops while I'm drawing O_o it drives me crazy! How do you work with that? O_O

This is amazinf~
I just have one question...
Well, two.
would this work for Photoshop Elements?
and
For the multi stroke lines and such, how do you keep them...straight? And looking like one line if you're doing it as several different lines?
If that made sense.

Andoledius In reply to WillowingDragon [2010-12-02 18:31:00 +0000 UTC]
im not sure if this tutorial is compatible with elements, since i have not used it myself. However, im not sure it is, since elements is the basic version of photoshop :/ who knows though!
the multi-stroke line is a large number of small lines that build up to a bigger line. to make it straight, i would make a line, and start from the middle of that line to make another line...ect. think about it like a circle. A circle is comprised of thousands of little angles, so many that when combined it makes a smooth, round surface. my lines are the same way. i use a lot of small lines in order to make one larger line.
it takes practice in order to make it look as smooth as the one in my tutorial. But, talent comes with time, so just keep working at it

*BUCE*! (the word "nice", but with a mouth full of toast).
I'm really into this tutorial; digging the fact that you put this together for our (general dA populace's) benefit. Thanks for posting the bit about opacity and the dpi fact--I just got Photoshop, so off I go ;D

How is it that one sets their tablet pen to be sensitive to pressure? Mine doesn't do that and I can't seem to be able to get anyone to tell me how to set it like that
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Andoledius In reply to Daniel-Gleebits [2010-07-10 14:57:47 +0000 UTC]
hmmm... there could be a few reasons your tablet pen isn't pressure sensitive. You could try going into your settings and turning it on, sometimes thats the case. it could also be that your tablet driver isn't updated. if thats the case head over to your tablets main website and download it from there
sometimes when i open photoshop or other programs my pen, for some reason, doesn't load pen sensitivity, you could be experiencing that, but it shouldnt happen everytime.
this could also be the reason although its unlikely, is that you have your brush settings set to remove sensitivity from your brushes. you can check by going to (in photoshop) Windows>brushes>Shape Dynamics, and look for the "minimum diameter" setting, which should be set to 0.
if you've tried all this and its STILL not working, i'd suggest going to your tablet brands website and looking on their forum to see if people are having the same issues :/
i hope that helps!

I have a question for you. I have all the settings correct on Photoshop, but I get the caution sign next to the pen sensitivity option and it doesn't work at all for me. I have a bamboo tablet and PS7. My brushes don't look whispy though. why not?

This tutorial is pretty nice, but the sad thing about it is that your resulting lineart depends on your tablet "skill". Now I've been working with a tablet for a pretty long while, but when I draw with it I really can't manage to make a line perfectly smooth without a single bump in it, let alone thinking about the pen pressure at the same time.
That being said, this is more appropiate for those who can keep their hands perfectly concentrated
