Description
My entry in the Kaijuden Group's art challenge. The criteria was to draw Gabara, the monster-bully from the movie 'Godzilla's Revenge' (the American title, I am not sure what the original Japanese title was).Gabara was a one-shot monster whose only purpose was to bully and torment Godzilla's son Minilla. As I recall, he made the mistake of attacking Godzilla too and the ensuing fight involved Gabara getting beaten like he owed money.

Plus, after some rough & ready instruction from his pops, Minya turned around & gave this poor lug of an oni a right thumpin' as well. Funny thing is, those scraps were still more interesting than most of the action from Minya's debut in Son of Godzilla.
Anyhoo, here we have solid proof that anything Toho-derived can benefit from rendering skill & atmosphere. Given the attention & loving detail lavished upon various Japanese spooks & goblins elsewhere in your gallery, it's clear Gabby here was right up your alley.

Thanks very much for the compliment. I do indeed have a love for monsters in general, but for some reason Japanese kaiju and folk legends seem a little more colorful to me than your standard western vampires, werewolves, and dragons.

Agreed in spades-especially regarding the folkloric critters. Spider demons, ghost foxes, earthquake fish...sentient umbrellas, for cryin' out loud. Definitely a bit more variety than that third or fourth Universal(R) franchise sequel.
