Description
LARGE FILE PLEASE DOWNLOAD.PLEASE NOTE THIS IS KIND OF AN OLD TUTORIAL. MY METHODS ARE DIFFERENT NOW IN SOME ASPECTS.
Okay.. first off I'd like to really thank everybody who gave feedback on what they wanted in this tutorial. hence why whats in it is kinda random. This tutorial covers the basics of how to shade certain things using paint tool SAI.
Wow this took ages... i've been pretty busy so i did this over the course over a few days so i hope it all makes sense please forgive any typos :/

I got a question.
At stage 2 where you stroke the green watercolor with the same brush set on transparency, I just get a huge blob of white instead.
Is it cos of my pen tablet settings or something else?

Out of curiosity, since the link you gave us for the transparent button is dead, do you know of another tutorial to show us where it is?

I like the way you did the skirt, but, what if you wanted a character who wore a unseen through able skirt? Cause my family would have been staring at me weirdly if i did that..

Great tutorial! I'm still trying to figure out the equivalent technique in photoshop for similar results. Sai for mac doesn't have pressure sensitivity so I'm stuck

Why I can't use transparent tool? It's not making any gradient...when I use it, it erase my color not make it into gradient color. Did I do something wrong?

one thing i've noticed is that many people only use two colors for blending skin, and it does have to do with style and simplicity but it almost looks bland. It's also much faster than adding in different hues in skin. i feel like, even though you show the method you use for different colors in skin, they're still too close too eachother and end up being two toned. It's simple

it does have to do with peoples style and honestly this tutorial is pretty old and my colour palette has completely changed. but every single person colours manga art differently so I don't think its a problem if thats what suites them.

it's also my opinion on things, just wanted to get it out there. Yeah i noticed it was pretty old, but people still see the tutorial, maybe they might think about that aspect too.
