Description
LARGE FILE PLEASE DOWNLOAD.PLEASE NOTE THIS IS KIND OF AN OLD TUTORIAL. MY METHODS ARE DIFFERENT NOW IN SOME ASPECTS.
Okay.. first off I'd like to really thank everybody who gave feedback on what they wanted in this tutorial. hence why whats in it is kinda random. This tutorial covers the basics of how to shade certain things using paint tool SAI.
Wow this took ages... i've been pretty busy so i did this over the course over a few days so i hope it all makes sense please forgive any typos :/

This is useful, even for me, who doesn't have SAI, GIMP, or anything like that.
I've got SketchBook Pro.
Ill try try to figure out how to do these things on SketchBook. Thanks!

It's on IOS. It doesn't have as many brushes and effects, but it works well. It's also integrated with the wonderful site we're on now, so you can post to here directly, which is cool.
Short answer: Portable app. Not as advanced, but works.

This is REALLY helpful because I might get paint tool sai but if I do it probably will be for free so none of you can see my art.
There might be a way i can show you (i hope)

Apparently if you get it for free you can't show your pictures or save them so.... yeah

Huh? I have SAI for free, and there's no problems with the program at all x3
And in worst case scenario, even if you wouldn't be able t save the file, you could always print screen it and save it c;

This looks great! Thanks for making this epicly epic tutorial, maybe I can learn something from this. However, I don't have Paint Tool SAI...I have Sketchbook express instead. Do you think I could still get some similar results??

Nice, though I'd like to point out that when you're shading skin your skin color should probably be warmer? The color you have is really yellow so it isn't very accurate with irl unless you have... liver failure.......

thanks for the feedback. This tutorial does state at the top though that its for manga illustration, rather then real life. This section of the tutorial is also just an explanation about how to apply the colour to skin as opposed to choosing the actual palette, however if I was to draw a realistic person then yes i'd also choose a warmer colour palette myself.

,,,even if it's not a realistic drawing, that doesn't mean basics such as natural skin color should be ignored,,,

Some people actually do have olive skin tones that make them look a bit yellow, my oldest sister has more yellow in her skin and I have more pink.

this... isn't even a just a bit yellow, I looked at the color a while ago and it's straight out pale golden yellow

I am so glad I was able to succeed it, thanks to you.
It is taking me more than one month to make this picture (I did not finish it yet), but I am plenty satisfied
with the results, and happy.
I was looking for this kind of shading, for years. Your tutorials are perfect!
Thank you so much!
