Back again with the redesigns for the mockbuster by Video Brinquedo: 'Little Princess School'. This time I'm tackling the teachers and the other side characters, including a new character that will be a part of the massive rewrite I'm currently working on. Here's the Magic Mirror!

This character was, by far, the most confusing one in the series. When I first saw some out of context clips (with no audio) for this thing, years ago, I thought that the Magic Mirror was, y'know, a woman. But then I watched the Bobsheaux review and apparently, it's voiced by a guy?! I was genuinely confused about what was the original intent for this character, so for my own sake, I redesigned the Magic Mirror as a woman. But I suppose she could be transgender; either way, it gets rid of any confusion.
Design wise, it was a massive helping of YIKES! I had no idea what the animators where thinking here; what was with those bulging eyes? The fish lips?! My main goal was to make her less terrifying, which isn't hard, TBH. But I had to step away from all that regardless.

I also wanted the mirror itself to not only look more ornate, but also resemble a polished stone. Since the original didn't really look like a mirror, but rather a haunted painting. When it came to the head portion, I tried to not make her look like Iria, but she kind of does look like an older Iria. But at least she has the heart-shaped hair and the purple eyes to set the two apart.

I like to imagine that in the reboot I'm working on, the mirror works as a way to communicate with people across the world, much like a landline phone. She'd have multiple mirrors across the school, so that more than one person could use the service at any given time. But the mirror you see her in now is her home base, the rest are the kind you'd get in antique stores but they're not nearly as old as her main mirror, as it dates back to the 11th century.
