This is purely fan art.
I tried to be as loyal as I could to the original designs. I watched Descent 2 cinematics quite a lot and took some influence from Descent 3 ships and combined my favourite parts into this
It Would be awesome if this wound up in a real game

I know this is done already. Wanted to point out that on the GX, the engines on the back comprised of MOST of the back with little flat space. They're fed by the intakes on the sides there.

Love the detail. Fits the ship well. I also like the coned fins on the engines. Gives it a sleeker look.

Are you going to do a Descent scene?
Descent 3 is the latest one and that one should still run on win xp and maybe vista.

Not sure about 1 or 2.

I'm not sure about doing more Descent, maybe someday. It really is a cool subject.
Yeah, Descent 3 runs great on XP, 1 and 2 do run but but they go super fast. Maybe they could be played with DosBox.

Some games have installers and they get confused with the new dvd drives.
You end up with negative speeds and the install fails.

I finished descent 1 and I did play 2 some time ago.
Have not finished 3 yet.

Biggest problems I've had are sound related with all the old setup programs..

That sucks.

Remember trying to run the first command and conquer.
The game would run and you can get the music but the sound effects were gone.
Missed hearing the people scream when they got killed.
At least I finished the NOD campaign.

I notice that I take so long to finish some games they become obsolete before I get a chance to finish them. Can't play Unreal 2 or Pariah anymore for some reason, they used to run before. I liked Unreal 2 and Pariah. Well at least I finished Quake 4, my todo list for this year is done.

Wow! Well, the effort definitely shows.
Whats the poly count on this? And are you gonna texture it? (not that you have to, it looks phenominal either way)

It's actually pretty low on polys, with MeshSmooth the ship has about 48000 polys.
The engines are about half of that number...
I do Hope that I'll find the energy to texture this someday
It needs some dents and grime and burnt parts and stuff like that
