Description
One of my favorite things to happen in the Transformers comics was the version of Transmutate who appeared in the Beast Wars Origins story. She may well be the first Transformer who isn't portrayed as neurotypical. And that's portrayed as a positive thing for her, which I love.
She doesn't read social cues or sensory input quite the same as other 'bots, and they mock her or other her, but they're shown to be the ones who have a problem. As Transmutate herself says, "I am not broken."

to be honest, i think she's way better than cartoon version Transmutate. being autistic, it's exciting to see a transformer who is neurodiverse.Β
i'm just hoping that if she is put in other continuities, that they keep that aspect of her, and give us more neurodiverse transformers

I kind of made my little Zoe (Zodiac) that way. She's not neuro-typical either. Not very good socially lol, so she tries to avoid direct social interaction in favor of "distant" interaction, like only voice talk or video chat. She gets overwhelmed trying to read all the different social cues in actual physical conversation while also trying to keep up said conversation. She can't do both at once. "Social multi-tasking" is really not her thing. One of her biggest quirks is someone trying to get her attention and she ignores them because she's trying to finish something, and won't answer till she's at a stopping point, which can sometimes take up to ten or fifteen minutes, and when someone keeps trying she gets irritated. People who don't know that's a quirk of her mind assume she's just being rude or haughty to them. It's exactly the opposite. She wants to be able to divert all facilities to the interaction but she has trouble voicing that, assuming that "Oh, they're more socially adept. They'll pick it up," when that's not usually what happens. What usually happens is her snapping at the impatient 'bot trying to get her attention, thus not making a good first impression, thus leading to the stereotypical assumption that she's just an "angry Pred," thus turning 'bots off to her, thus leading to her trying to actively avoid interaction by tucking herself in nooks around her ship or workplace. Lather, rise, repeat. xD
She's also got a sight problem as a Avioid Predacon that I haven't quite explored yet -- too much visual input, especially light, can cause eye pain and sometimes migraines, which is why her ship is one of the softest lit in the CERF. And it's also why she's best buds with her communications chief: Shatterveil, as a nocturnal Draculian, keeps her quarters nearly pitch black, the only light coming form her computers and her pale bio-lights. If she's too stimulated, she'll dart in there and hunker down under her desk. Shatterveil doesn't mind. xD
I've explored this sight thing more with Grimwing in Fire of Youth. His sight is so sensitive to light that, unless he wears a visor in broad daylight, his sight will deteriorate from optical damage and he will eventually go blind.

Huh, I'd never considered Cybertronians with visual impairments. Fascinating! It makes sense though, if they're in certain lighting all the time, that's what their optics might adjust to

Though at the same time I could imagne that Screamer could just blame it on some Decepticons and to kill two birds with one stone say that "The Captain of the Lost Light" paid us to do it.Β

Although with Rod being completely on the other side of the universe, nobody with half a processor would believe him. (And Scoop or Rattrap would out him, if their behavior in the last comic was anything to go by)

I was actully going for that MEgatron coul have ordered the attack, or they could pin it that Soundwave told them too and if they discover that Ravage is on the ship and as far as they know He DOES have a mental link to Soundwave and MEgatron IS letting him stayΒ
π: 0 β©: 1
ArdentAspen In reply to Fanatic97 [2015-04-17 18:29:38 +0000 UTC]
Ah, forgot about that angle. But I don't think Starscream would have reckoned on Megatron's origins, that's for sure (good grief, Prowl will probably pop a blood vessel when he finds out). I feel like Whirl and Brainstorm at the least would fight hard to clear Megatron's name.
π: 0 β©: 1
Fanatic97 In reply to ArdentAspen [2015-04-17 20:21:30 +0000 UTC]
Yep ^^Β
Perhaps Starsxcream could make it seem like that Megatron sees an oppertunity to rebuild but on the LL it's revled by Blaster that all outgoing communications are monitored by himΒ

ArdentAspen In reply to Fanatic97 [2015-04-21 02:36:37 +0000 UTC]
let's hope Starscream never finds out about Megatron's "birth". I bet he'd use Rewind's actions as a way to discredit the testimony of anyone on the Lost Light, saying they were unstable and that Rewind had "knowingly and willingly shot a pre-activated Cybertronian through the spark!"

Odds are though he probably would.Β
And combinde that with him nabbing Baby Windhseer and framing perhaps some Camiens of the Crime *perhaps citing some Cultists who are a bit too extreme in their worship of Solus* That wanted to "Sacrifice her:, in reality they saw Rattrap ditch her in a dumpster for them to find and were tkaing care of little Windsheer and were jsut uninformedΒ

ArdentAspen In reply to Fanatic97 [2015-04-21 03:01:36 +0000 UTC]
Optimus would probably be the only one to put a stop to it all (partially because of the way the Camiens literally revere him, and partially because he's figured out by now how to manipulate Starscream into a corner to get things done. He outlined the way things were gonna go in front of a news crew, then sweetly said, "That's how you explained the idea to me, right Starscream?" in front of everyone. He's figured out politics at long last!)

I'm not sure how I feel about this characterization of him though. I mean, then again, all we know about Blurr in Aligned Continuity is that he was originally a Velocitronian, not a Cybertronian. Maybe their culture is just different.

lol yeah not much you can do at this point. Not with Rescue Bots anyway. But then again, they're the intro to a lot of Little Fans who don't even know the word "continuity" yet, so I guess that's just something to take in stride.

Yeah true might explain the difference between FOC Grimlock and RID Grimlock..uness since COntrail's a former Con....then maybe his "property damage" was what he did during the war.Β
π: 0 β©: 1
ArdentAspen In reply to Fanatic97 [2015-04-27 02:26:47 +0000 UTC]
or he's named for the original Grimlock, perhaps? I mean, take Transformers: Animated for instance. In the first episode, Optimus is watching "old war records" that are clips of G1, right? That makes me think that some names are held on to and passed to others. Hence there being a Bumblebee who wasn't like the G1 Bumblebee and who was sparked after the first great Autobot/Decepticon war.

so apparently, according to Mairghread Scott, when asked about whether there were two Grimlocks or whether FoC Grimlock had been retconned, the official answer so far is "I don't know". The guy behind the show hasn't figured out if he wants there to be two Grimlocks or not lol
