The computer's down again... go figure! But that didn't keep me from finishing a deve I'd been meaning to do for a little while. So feel free to fave, take and use this to show you're a proud supporter of Paizo's Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, or if you're just a fan of keeping the D&D 3.5 tradition alive. I'm really not a fan of what they did in 4th edition. As much as it supports combat (and actually lets defensive melee types who'd want to tank actually *tank*) it just feels like the whole process is streamlined, not to mention having no time in combat to take a mental break because you might have to interrupt something (taxing on some people)

I can understand and totally agree with that, and trust me, I am absolutely no fan of 4E, mostly because of the 'D&D: The Video Game' feel to it and the "No Child Left Behind" feel to stepped saves. Now I unabashedly love Paizo and Pathfinder and always will, but three major things keep it from being my current game of choice:
1) The overwhelming amount of skills/feats has often led, in my group, at least, to a player mindset of "if it's not on my character sheet, I can't do it." In other words, die rolls are replacing actual thought and interaction. Players don't want to create a plausible story to tell the guard, they want to roll a Bluff check (against Sense Motive, if absolutely necessary). They don't want to think about the contents of a room and what might seem out of place, they want to roll a Perception check and be done with it. They don't want to figure out a riddle or schmooze the information out of a merchant, they want to have a die roll (with bonuses) do that for them. Roll playing, in other words, instead of Role playing.
2) Combat.
Lasts.
A.
Small.
Eternity.
I am not about shying from combat, but my games have a lot happening in them. They have intrigue, they have the occasional romance, they have plot twists and story, and yes, they have combat. But when your goal for the game is, "okay, guys, today, we're gonna try to get through two combats," it gets ridiculous. And character creation all but earmarks you for combat-- combat feats, combat skills, powers, and min/maxing (going back to 3.5E, when people referred to having the wrong character 'builds' because you didn't max on the right skills and feats to get a proper plus when you fought, because you actually spent on skills that made sense for your character/background). So on your round, you might get eight rolls, because you have all your attacks, all your animal companion's attacks, and whatever extra attacks are granted through buffs or circumstance, while everyone else sits on their duff and tosses cheese balls at one another. A solid fifteen-round combat can take two hours!
That said, I do still love Pathfinder, and I will choose it over 4E 100 times out of 100. My personal game of choice has moved on to TLG's Castles & Crusades (which is a leaner system that expects a lot more interaction between player and GM rather than rolling for success, has a much more simplistic combat and core mechanic system, and works much better for the sort of story-driven games I run) or the earlier iterations of AD&D, like modified 2E.

Thanks a lot! I've kinda wondered why with everything else that DA allows for non-subscribers why they don't offer the ability to use stamps!

Because they're mean. Lol, I dont' know. I guess it's a big deal for subscribers to get to use them kind of. Does that make sense?
