Description This is the first tutorial I've made - I hope it'll do someone good!
I made this for a contest at #AmazingMaille ! These earrings match the bracelet I made for my aunt for Christmas. [link]
Her birthday is later this month, so I figured it was a good excuse to make a tutorial (:

If you use this, credit in the form of a link is not necessary, but greatly appreciated.
Also, please comment on this or on my page to show me what you made! Thanks!

The earrings made in this tutorial were a gift for my aunt.

Awesome tutorial! Β I've had some jump rings for a while, for the specific purpose of having a go at some chainmaille.....might just have to make today the day! Β Thank you so much for the tutorial - your clear photos and instructions have given me the confidence to finally give it a go

I'm so happy to hear that. Now that I'm graduated I am hoping to redo the tutorials I have already finished (so they match my brand lol) as well as make new ones!

Just came back and used your tutorial again to help me make a pair of earrings with a nice little byzantine link in there Β Will upload a photo soon. Β Thanks again for the great tutorial!

thanks for the tutorial. I do have 1 suggestion. I would use different colored jump rings to better show the steps. It makes it easier for me to see the pattern, just a thought.

ArmoredKoi In reply to Sassy21w [2013-03-24 23:39:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah maybe I will use Photoshop to do that in future tutorials (: I don't really want to use rings that are actually different, since I would have to do a lot of taking apart the weave and reassembling. (: For both these tutorials I used pieces that I was making for commissions!
Thanks for the suggestion!!

hey, what gauge of wire did you use? and what's the ID (inner diameter) of the rings?
thanks the tutorial is good, i'm thinking of making a necklace

I believe these are an AR of 4, did I forget to put that in the tutorial?

wingedalchemist2961 In reply to ArmoredKoi [2012-05-24 21:18:59 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Never tried maille before, but saw the elfweave tutorial and then this one. Next day my brother and I got wire, made rings and got linkin'. I made a short byzantine chain relatively quickly easily thanks to you. I look forward to more tutorials. (please?)

Very cool!

Though I am mostly here to share my physical work and try to grow my business, I am probably going to do a few more tutorials here and there (:

You are really talented with Chains! I wonder how heavy those earrings are...But you really did a very good job! ouo

Thanks so much! They're actually not that bad, but if you are used to wearing something like aluminum the difference is noticeable.

Also, what is a ring monkey? What do you use it for? (I know it's a person)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ArmoredKoi In reply to CynthiaDesgagne [2011-11-11 16:29:31 +0000 UTC]

Haha! Ring monkeys -- like... you have them sit there and only open or close rings for you (the shit part), while you do the actual weaving (the fun part).

CynthiaDesgagne In reply to ArmoredKoi [2011-11-11 18:01:35 +0000 UTC]

Aaah! That why I'm doing my chainmaille in front of the TV ^^ I'm closing/opening them without looking, makes time pass faster I wonder if my sister would volunteer for this... probably not ^^'

I'm sure splitting your rings into piles doesn't make you OCD... otherwise, I'm OCD too! I wish I saw your tutorial before trying byzantine, but yeah I eventually figured it out ^^' Basically the same method as you, yay!

I discovered this tutorial quite by accident, however, I would like to compliment you on it. I have not made any silver jewelry since the mid 70's during my late school years, this is page alone is very inspirational. I have modified jewelry but not built from basic material. Excellent.
