Description I started this last year, but didn't finish it, and a few days ago I thought it'd be good to finish it before today - but I didn't. >_>" All I did this year was make the lineart slightly better...

At this time last year, the Edward-Elric club was trying to get enough entries for a contest, which wanted entries that involved something wintery and something unexpected. I thought of the idea for the picture really quick after seeing that ice in the first episode.
Also, (if the four years after the movie part is right - I did try looking it up, so it should be correct) Brotherhood started four years after "Conqueror of Shamballa", and I have a fanfiction (which is also unfinished...) that takes place four years after the movie, with Ed and Al finding a way to open the gate and go back to Central. Of course, this isn't what they see in my fic, but I thought the timing was interesting.
And one more thing - besides this being Brotherhood's one year aniversary, this week Brotherhood also has the same number of episodes as the first FMA series.

The picture's not from a fic, but the fic I mentioned in the description is this one: www.fanfiction.net/s/3834650/1… (Return to Shamballa)
I'd wanted to redo the first chapters after getting a better idea of where I wanted the story to go, but I never did. So it's kind'a just sitting thereΒ unfinished right now.Β (but I'd like to work on it again sometime. and hopefully remember what I'd wanted to do)

Great drawing by the way, your art skills are spot on to the style, and the idea is truly interesting, I imagine it'd prove an intriguing crossover! ^^

Fantastic Work!Β

YEAH!! BROTHERHOOD!
Pluss it really wouldn't be a replacement, Because the manga was first and Brotherhood follows the manga.. o3o

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AsjJohnson In reply to ViviRouce [2011-05-26 01:29:41 +0000 UTC]

yeah, but when I first thought of the idea, it was before anyone knew for sure, I think.
And, I just liked the anime. Now I feel I need to say "first anime" or something, thinking everyone will automatically think of Brotherhood if I mention the FMA anime. The anime and the manga were pretty separate before, but having an anime adaptation of the manga makes me think that the original anime may be forgotten.
(that, and I was thinking of the idea for the picture as being like actors in a show, thus the manga doesn't apply for that, because... I've never really heard of text being expressed in that way)
But, I like Brotherhood pretty well. I still like the art and emotion of the first anime more, though. But they're both good, and I probably wouldn't have known much about the FMA manga without Brotherhood (I couldn't get interested enough in the first chapters of the manga to read it).

ViviRouce In reply to AsjJohnson [2011-05-26 03:52:28 +0000 UTC]

Oh OK.. x3
And trust me, most of the time when I mention Fullmetal Alchemist they usually think of the First anime. Its not close to being forgotten.
But When i talk about the two I usually say the First Anime and Brotherhood.. xD
And the Anime wasn't adapted into a Manga.. the Manga was adapted to the Anime.
The way I think of it all is..
Hiromu Arakwa Invented Fullmetal Alchemist, Therefor she Created, Ed, Al, Winry,(etc.) and All of Amestris. Then when they wanted to adapt it into an Anime, she at first helped them, but then let them continue it as an anime on there own, and she went on with that Manga. Later they made brotherhood because they wanted an Anime to follow the original Story that Hiromu Arakwa had came up with.. x3
So all in All... (If It was all.. Real in our world) Brothehood is the real story of the Elric Brothers...

"the Manga was adapted to the Anime" Oh, wasn't that what I said? If I said it backwards, it was a typo.
I'd prefer to think of it as two real stories. Like, if FMA was another dimension, that they'd both have their own dimension. ...and Brotherhood vs the manga might be separate dimensions, too. Since there were a few small differences. (but, with the two animes, even Ed himself is different in them, like two different people)
I like how the first anime is small. I think that probably helped with it a lot, because they could really focus on it and make it come together (instead of longer animes, that might not have as much work put into them). And it might've helped that they could come up with their own story instead of do everything the same as the manga.

ViviRouce In reply to AsjJohnson [2011-05-26 05:36:08 +0000 UTC]

Maby it was a typo.. xD lol but ok.
eh idk... In my mind it works to say that only the manga and brotherhood happened.. And think about it, If Hiromu Arakwa had continued the first anime by following her story.. the first anime story would have never been reality, and since she is the very first to create FMA (It is her story and is like.. the Mother of Amestris? xD) her story is reality...
But I don't know really..

(-sigh- Why does what i type always sound so.. good in my mind and then come out like.. Bleh...? xD)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AsjJohnson In reply to ViviRouce [2011-05-26 15:59:24 +0000 UTC]

I think it would've been neat if the first anime followed the manga, but I like the story of the first anime, too. So I'm glad they made it, even though it's not the original thing.
Hmm... if an author makes a story real, then wouldn't whoever wrote the story for the first anime have made that story real, too? It's hard to explain, but I think both stories kind'a stand on their own. Their names are similar, but I think of them like different people.
I guess that, if a blond guy ever appears in our world and claims his name is Edward Elric, then someone will have to ask him about his world, to see if he came from the manga. ...but if there's more than one dimension, then that wouldn't prove much...
Ah, this conversation is getting too long. Kind'a fun thinking about possibilities, though.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ViviRouce In reply to AsjJohnson [2011-05-26 21:30:03 +0000 UTC]

It is fun... But your right, it is long.
Maby they stand on there own.. but the real Edward Elric in my mind has to me manga/brotherhood Ed. Because...
Its Kind of like, If You took a really good book, and then turned it into a movie, and the movie was WAY Different than book, (and of course... Ya know.. they were real in another dimention(which I like to think of as real for FMA to keep my childhood and sanity for a little bit longer)) Then in the real Book world, there would be nothing of what happened in the movie... I don't think who made the movie would really have made that real... Because they took the ORIGINAL Idea, and turned different. Sure there would be fans of it, But it would not be the same... Kind of Like the BBI game for FMA, there are tons of Fans of it but it was made without the owners permission.
Kind Of get were I'm coming from? I Think I kind of understand what your saying...

AsjJohnson In reply to ViviRouce [2011-05-26 22:07:04 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I understand what you're saying. I just feel bad thinking the first anime isn't real. ^_^" (not that it's real to begin with, though) Hmm... there's bound to be a way to word all of this without the both of us sounding crazy. Oh well.
I wonder what would be real for something like The Little Mermaid. Because stories like that were made a long time ago, but most people would think of the Disney versions as being more real, because they're more popular or more well-known.

Actually, the ones from the movie are the imposters. Brotherhood was based directly off the manga, so technically, Ed and Al from the movie are the imposters. And about your signiture, y'know, just never mind.

korub1 In reply to Souigintou [2011-08-17 05:37:17 +0000 UTC]

agreed completely and utterly, after all, what would be more of an imposter, a totally different story line with a few of the same characters as the Manga, or an almost word for word rendition of the Manga. the answer is obvious, so new Wrath, Pride, and Sloth can suck it.
though alphonse does have a whiny voice in brotherhood, I guess they wanted people who havn't seen the anime to assume he was younger than Edward

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is so sad yet true! To be honest I'm still not sure I care for Brotherhood. Al is just so... so... er... whiney. I like the other Alphonse better. In fact I prefered him to Edward. However in this new one... I'd likely have to choose Ed.
Yeah I know it's based on the manga, which I haven't read.

-sigh- Guess it's because I got hooked on the first show by how sweet Al was in that episode where Scar blasts a hole in him. (1st episode I saw) In the new one he just isn't as sweet!

AsjJohnson In reply to joyfulmusic [2010-04-06 13:14:06 +0000 UTC]

I think this is the only Brotherhood fanart I've done. (although I'm not sure which anime some of my sketches resemble) I like the new anime okay (and it's been easier to watch than trying to read the manga - I tried to read it once, but the beginning's just so boring), but I think the first anime's always going to be my favorite FMA. I just don't get the same feeling of awe out of this one.
(by the way, someone who read the manga once told me that they can't stand the Al of the original anime. I just thought that was interesting...)

joyfulmusic In reply to AsjJohnson [2010-04-08 00:12:28 +0000 UTC]

I guess you tend to like whatever piece of FMA you started with. I've heard that people that read the manga first didn't like the series. I wonder if they will like Brotherhood though... Hm...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AsjJohnson In reply to joyfulmusic [2010-04-08 00:56:06 +0000 UTC]

They probably like Brotherhood more than the first anime, but less than the manga.
There's bound to be tons of people now who've only seen Brotherhood. Then they'd not like the first anime or the manga. ^_^"
I just realized something... it's like Superman... >_>" I saw the new Lois and Clark version first. But I've seen some parts of the older versions of it and think they're kind'a weird, but now there's Smallvile, which bothers me every time I try to watch it because it doesn't follow the Lois and Clark timeline and because it seems too out-there. But, there are exceptions to the rule. For Yu-Gi-Oh!, I think I like the manga version (of at least the DM anime's first season) more, because the manga actually explains the things that I wondered about in the anime. I thought the FMA manga would be the same, but the first several chapters explained hardly anything that I didn't already know.
... I talk too much. I always say whatever comes to the top of my head. ^_^"
