Description
A 'repaint' I did using Instructions for Armada Overload downloaded from Hasbro's official Transformers website, [link]Continuing my seemingly never-ending slew of WIP/Incomplete/Not-Deemed-Worthy-For-Pub lic-Viewing, this is another of the few I am glad to classify under “Why the hell didn’t I finish this before?” I don’t remember where the idea for this one came, probably from when I was trying to think of things to use the Overload mold for. It’s one of my favorite Armada molds, and despite being a brick and having an awkward vehicle mode, it is just one of the coolest robot modes EVER. Well, I decided to repaint him into Metroplex. I’ve never owned a G1 Metroplex but I always thought it was a badass toy, and while I know it’ll NEVER get re-released in the US (Hasbro said as much themselves), I do have some pretty high hopes for the TF: Cybertron Metroplex that’s going to be coming out in the future. And until then, this make-believe repaint will just have to do, heh. I did this guys robot mode on a whim a loooong time ago and never did the corresponding vehicle mode until today. Now he’s finished and I’m a little more happy with him then I would have thought. I think his ‘Bot mode seriously does the big guy justice, and his vehicle mode is a decent enough (at least in principal) homage to his giant, gun riddled battle platform mode.
His Minicon, if you hadn’t guessed, would be Scamper, the little black car TF (and precursor to the Spy-Changers) that came with the original Metroplex.

Artwork is © Hasbro, only colored by me (and halfassed at that) in plain ol' MS paint.

Interesting idea here. Personaly, I've always thought that the Trainbots from RiD would make an incredible Metroplex in their combined mode (the components having the names of Metroplex's partners), but this is pretty sweet as it is. Vehicle mode takes some getting used to since the original doesn't necessarily have a vehicle mode to begin with (a city-sized mobile battlestation makes for akward mobility when a human city or a natural preserve gets in the way.)
Still, 'tis a pretty cool repaint you've made Assey, if only for the great homage of such a big character on such a brick of a toy.

...You know...now that i think of it...Metroplex and Overload are almost identical in their brick-ness, hehe. Glad ya like it. I still like the idea though. i dunno why i think it's so damn fitting when it quite obviously ISN'T. heh.

Yes. The brickyness. It's a word I just made up and it's funderful. Obviously.
Both metroplex and Overload have JUST shoulder and leg joints if I'm not mistaken. Hell, At least Metro's legs can bend at a 90 degree angle. Overloads can just...not, heh. but see what I mean? Brothers in Brickyness!

Awesome, man. This reminds me how much I want/need big Armada Prime, Overload, and Jetfire...

Those three do make a pretty awesome little convoy! I like to get those three together, then line up all my minicons in two rows and make a parade.

Hehe, me and Assey were talking about the Decepitcon equivilant, Scourge for Prime, the upcoming Spacewarp (Shoulda been Astrotrain ) repaint of Jetfire, and Mega-Octane for Overload, call the combined form Ruination.

Thats what YOU were talking about, heh. I keep telling you that their combined modes, especially jetfire in ANY mode, are just weak. I like the idea of Arm prime as Scourge and Overload as Ruination/Mega-Octane myself, heh. Don't wanna allow Jetfire into the equation, hehe.

me agian GranOmega-7 this redeco is nice the head doesn't look that far off metroplex at all. Personally if you get ahold of teh cybertron metroplex do this color scheme on him too. I'd b very interested 2 see it done.

It's a nice paintscheme, but it doesn't make it any less sucky of a toy, hehe.
