Description
Draconian Vista©2010 ~ Michael C. Turner ~ Galactic Visions Space Art
The north circumpolar constellation commonly known as Draco is the domain of numerous binary and several multiple star systems. One optical star in Draco's head, Nu Draconis, is actually a double or binary star which astronomers refer to as Nu1 and Nu 2. Both are dwarf white class stars which are about 70% larger and 9 times more luminous than Sol. They are slightly hotter than Sol (6,000K ) at about 8,000K each. Nu 2 has another close companion of lesser stellar mass (Nu 1 may also have a smaller stellar companion ). These two white dwarf stars are depicted as viewed from a possible exoplanet orbiting Nu 2's lesser stellar companion. Jets of volcanic plumes consisting of gas, steam, and pyroclastic debris erupt from ancient calderas as a result of massive subterranean vulcanism created, in part, by the complex gravitational influx fields within this multiple stellar system.

This came out very vivid, it's rare to see such rich colours in traditional art since sometimes the scan or photograph dosn't do it much justice even with volcanic eruptions is looks so peaceful and inviting, but then again almost every planet puts on that act, and what to me resembles a delightful tropical sunset is probably an incinerator
the grainyness of the volanoes and even in some of the stars contributes a lot to the realism too, even in a delightfully stylised and colourful peice

Greetings Matthew,
Your comments are always greatly appreciated for I know you truly reflect upon an image before commenting. I did expend copious time creating this piece. I used a liquid gel medium, applied in multiple layers, to create richer colours. Yes, scanning photographs of art can result in muted colours and overly-exposed images. I took a digital photograph of the original (on an evenly overcast day) and uploaded to my computer directly. The only alterations I made consisted of mionor croping and adjusting the colour level very slighlty to match the original piece. I doubt even a dragon would feel at home on this hot world.
My best,
Michael C. Turner

Nice, not a typical colour scheme for you, am I right?
I love that your pictures have so much thought process behind. You can write the inspiring scientifically factual description of what the picture is and its still a beautiful image.
I do think you paint god in many ways. The incomprehensible beauty, awe and majesty of the universe we inhabit.

Greetings,
I sincerely appreciate your kind comments. The color scheme in this painting is divergent from the majority of my paintings although I have used similar colors in several other paintings in my DA gallery. I am particularly pleased that my paintings bring God and His wondrous, divererse, Universe to mind for this is essentially the motiviation for all my works . . .
Kind regards,
Michael C. Turner
