Description

A POKEMON THAT ISNT A ULTRA BEAST? WHAT!? Also i have updated the format for these, the old one may stick around until after the UB Report series finishes, just for consistency's sake.

Also this is my July 2nd entry for MonMonth, I'm just a little behind is all...

-------------------

Registered as a Class 5 Pokémon, Garchomp are highly aggressive and require a trainer who is proven adept in handling violent and temperamental Pokémon. The most widely known individual of this species is used as the ace of the Sinnoh Pokémon League by Champion Cynthia, whose Garchomp has claimed victory against many a challenger. Rearing a Garchomp can only be reliably accomplished through raising a Gible from birth, as even a young wild Gible captured in the wild can be far too feral to control in a competitive setting. Even then, without proper training a Garchomp raised from birth will likely never be certified for National Pokémon League Competitions if it meet the very strict needs Class 5 Pokémon require to be entered into any official League or Gym challenges.

In the wild Garchomp are typically found in arid environments with low humidity and little to no impact from the colder seasons of the year. Many trainers who have been unable to care for young Gible or adolescent Gabite will often release them into unsuited environments, often with local fauna suffering, unable to deal with a foreign apex predator they have not evolved alongside of. Gible abandoned in such a way will look for tunnels or geo-thermal heat sources where they can avoid the unsuited environment, causing nests to pop up in locations once deemed safe for novice trainers to practice, putting them and their Pokémon in grave danger.

Naturally Garchomp are subarenaceous predators, hiding within loose substrate such as sand and “swimming” at lightning speed after prey. In order to accomplish such a unique feat at such a speed several factors have come together with great success. Firstly, The scales of a Grchomp are incredibly smooth running from head to tail, and dangerously abrasive running the opposite direction. This “one way” system allows for garchomp to swim in a slithering motion causing friction to push it forward. Next Garchomp are able to fluidize the sand around its body by constantly producing extremely low frequency bellow, the soundwaves emanating from its body to loosening the grains around its body with the low frequency rumble. Thirdly a Garchomp will tuck its body into its wings as much as possible, covering protrusions and making its body a more cylindrical shape to produce less friction. Garchomp can hold their breath for over an hour similarly to Feraligatr and Krookodile, an unsuspecting target will likely never know the Garchomp was below the surface before it's too late.

In more rocky climates, Garchomp have been seen using their short wings to glide a moderate distance. To accomplish this, the impressive speed of the Garchomp is used to launch it from a designated vantage point such as a large rock or cliff side. Propelling it through the air using similar maneuvers to a skydiver in a wingsuit. While their tail is not evolved to perform aerial adjustments, however, they are able to make due, as most hunts undertaken by Garchomp end in success which is a rarity as often prey is able to keep up with their common predators.

What keeps Garchomp from overwhelming entire populations of Pokémon is likely their devastating aversion to cold of any kind, which has become one of the few checks against their population in non-native environments such as Sinnoh where they have been found nesting deep underground in Wayward Cave. Often their territory will over lap with other apex predators such as Salamence where both individuals will often break into a fight, though often these are not lethal encounters unless a female has brooded nearby.
