Description

First recorded sightings were reported in a flower meadow on Melemele Island in the Alola region, due to a cataloging error both Pheromosa and Buzzwole share the the same ID of UB-02. Subject UB-02 Buzzwole, code name “Absorption” is a hexapodal, extra dimensional analog to the common insect Pokémon. Imagery taken from this creature’s point of origin indicate that it is a very common lifeform in the “Ultra Jungle” a high oxygen environment with plant-life reaching the heights of sky scrapers.

Despite its similarities to insect as well as other terrestrial Pokémon, Buzzwole’s evolution took a drastically different path than that of our own world. Rather than a system of ligaments and muscles connecting joints and allowing movement, Buzzwole possesses a system of thick fluid-filled sacks which expand and contract quickly to allow for movement through pressure changes. These fluid sacks seem to also be used for distributing gases which Buzzwole consider to be breathable while filtering out toxic chemicals, however it is unknown how long a Buzzwole can survive in this lower oxygen environment or if the change affects it at all.
This “Ultra Beast” has been witnessed draining the body fluids of prey targets, one of which being a Snorlax found deceased on Melemele, the method of draining the prey seems to be by injecting digestive juices into the target and reabsorbing the liquefied material through its proboscis. The proboscis seems to be able to harden similarly to Buzzwole’s “muscles” when being used to penetrate flesh, and relaxing into a more flexible state when injecting and ingesting fluids.

By no means a small creature, Buzzwole stands at nearly eight feet tall, and almost half a ton, despite this such a large creature possesses small wings. While in our environment these are practically useless aside from a prolonged areal time, or boosting a jump, in the “Ultra Jungle’s thick atmosphere these wings allow for full flight of the hefty beast. In our own world, while it may lose its full flight capabilities it is by no means less of a threat if confronted. Reports from civilians and agents alike have confirmed this creatures immense strength, having found itself on a high traffic road it demolished a dump truck on route to a construction site, it’s assault triggering the vehicles airbags and shattering the engine block. Luckily the driver was able to escape with minimal injuries while the Buzzwole was focused on what it perceived to be its aggressor.

The Buzzwole which has been terrorizing the island nation of Alola has however demonstrated a seeming willingness to communicate, when approached by humans or other Pokémon with a similar upper body shape as Buzzwole, while apprehensive, it seem to stop and attempt to communicate through arm movements and poses. While it is unknown if these movements are territorial or indeed a means of communication between other members of its kind, it has been noted to be less aggressive towards those who respond in kind with similar body movements.

Buzzwole has been given the ID “UB-02 Absorption” and classification of the “Swollen Pokémon” due to the fluids it absorbs also seem to act as a steroid of sorts, once Buzzwole has ingested the fluids of its prey the sacks across its body increase in size giving it a more muscular appetence and increasing its strength due to the increased stored pressure. It is however unknown how it’s digestive system and muscular system interact in such a intermingled way, as dissection would be required to discover more.

Rumors of a “Shiny Buzzwole” have been circulating around trainers both young and old, poor quality images and matching descriptions from supposed sightings depict a variant of the Ultra Beast with a chromatic defect, turning the red chitin a shade of green. While these claims are likely hoaxes to garner views and follows on social media the possibility does remain that a rare specimen of this extra dimensional creature exists.
