Description

UB – 03 Lightning; otherwise known as Xurkitree, is an extradimensional bio electrical lifeform. Xurkitree is a truly alien creature when compared to pokemon of our world, much like a starmie or staryu, Xurkitree’s evolution seemed to have favored radial symmetry, as the pentapodal creature had no discernible forward-facing side. While the Ultra beast moves using it’s five boneless pseudopods, it can arch up onto two “legs” when threatened and forced to attack, though which legs it uses do not seem to matter.

The creature was first located on Akala Island in Alola, reported sightings place in Memorial Hill and Lush Jungle before finally being located attempting to interact with Haehae City’s radio tower. A working theory as to why is Xurkitree may in fact communicate in energy wavelength similar to that of radio waves which may have drawn the creature in through curiosity. However, the electricity powering the tower may have been what ultimately lured the Ultra Beast into the city.

Upon locating a Ultra-Wormhole leading to the home dimension of the Xurkitree species it was discovered that they appear to thrive in an arid wasteland under a constant dust storm, the particles in the air generating heat lightning which the Xurkitree seem to flock to. Massive Xurkitree standing several stories tall, larger than even most gigantamaxed Pokémon, stand in open valleys drawing in the lightning to feed themselves. Smaller individuals anchor themselves to the ground with all five legs to withstand the high winds generated in the area, while feeding on leftover energy dispersed through the ground by their monolithic brethren.

Their capacity for energy consumption and discharges appears to have been tempered by this unique form of feeding, their thick rubber-like skin adapted to resist the constant dust storms, and their lack of bones makes them remarkably resistant to impacts. One trait of their evolution not fully understood is their bioluminescence as the species itself seems to be blind, a working theory is that bioluminescent bacteria coevolved with the Ultra Beast to feed on the energy within the Xurkitree and produce the blue glow when properly fueled by the electricity flowing through the UB’s body.

Xurkitree was given the codename UB – 03 Lightning due to its feeding habits and ability to generate high voltage shocks, superior to that of many electric Pokémon, approaching 800,000,000 Joules of power when discharging, though its unknown what the upper limit of the larger specimen are capable of.

A alternate colorations of the Xurkitree species have been located within ultra-space, the appear to have a genetic discoloration similar to that of argyrosis, a condition caused by excessive exposure to chemical compounds of the element silver, however it is unknown how this effects the creature biologically.
