Description

In recent months, the Ultra-Space Observation Taskforce had made contact with a race of blue skinned humanoids from beyond the Ultra-Wormholes. They appear to be in search of an enigmatic Ultra Beast, one which appears to have devastated their own world in the past, details on the event remain unknown. While both sides have been keeping a watchful eye on one another an agreement has been reached between our two parties. In exchange for any information on this black crystalline creature their Recon Squad has presented our researchers with a pair of eggs to continue our research on, both of which we were told would hatch into the UBs which they used as partners.

Some time has passed since the initial trade and both eggs have successfully hatched, the first a healthy and energetic Poipole the same as the Recon Squad had accompanying them on our initial contact. The second egg hatched shortly after the first, revealing itself to have a genetic mutation causing it to have a white body with yellowed accents. Both infant Poipole remained skittish of new stimulus in the following weeks, with the older of the two taking a more defensive position and making a cackling chirp sound around researchers it didn’t recognize. Much like any young Pokémon, socializing and exposure to new environments soon rectified their defensive behaviors. A vast majority of the Poipole’s time are spent either playing with each other in their enclosure, several toys which have been provided for enrichment purposes, or sleeping.

The body of the Poipole appears to be an analog of both reptilian and insect traits found in many Pokémon from our own world, the body is composed of smooth chitinous scales with the largest plates being composed of multiple scales which have fused together. The teeth of the Poipole are self-sharpening plates that grant it a powerful bite and the ability to chew through hard woods and sturdier plastic toys made for larger Pokémon. The stingers on top of the head appear more defensive than offensive due to their positioning, also a modified set of scales, the hollowed structures are able to spray streams of an adhesive poisonous substance which is incapable of adhering to their scales. The eyes of a Poipole have bioluminescent properties resting between the facets of the compound eye, tests show their visual acuity in on par with predatory insect Pokémon such as Yanma and Yanmega.

While the Poipole have both strongly bonded too researchers and training staff, both subjects are far more responsive to testing when participating together. Attempts to separate the two from one another leave both subjects experiencing separation anxiety, making both unresponsive to testing or training, instead calling out to find one another.
