Description
Some people just want to see the world burn.Name: Drifloon (Tupaman form)
Type: Ghost/Fire
Species: Blimp Pokémon
Ability: Aftermath/ Levitate/ (Hidden: Flash Fire)
Height: 2,51m (6'88'')
Weight: 12kg (26,45 lbs)
Entry:
It must continuously keep its fire burning to stay functional and afloat, so it periodically lowers and hovers close to
the ground, grabbing the first thing it sees with its ribbon-like appendage, be it living or otherwise, to use as fuel.
As it floats, it rains fireballs down below, creating forest fires, and it is said that it’s curse powers grows the more
it destroys. When its body reaches its end, it crashes into the ground in a big fiery explosion, from which a new
one births.
-Drifloon (Tupaman form) -> Lv.28 -> Drifblim (Tupaman form)-
Potential Moveset:
Omnious Wind
Explosion
Fiery Dance
Will-O-Wisp
Just like it's pre evo, Driblim's Tupaman form is themed on a festival here in Brazil called "Festa Junina " ("literally June Festival" [image] [image] ), occurring at
the beginning of winter to celebrate the rainy season and to honor St. John the Baptist. During the festival men and women dress in farm clothes, and spaces are
decorated in a rural theme. Bonfires, fireworks, a mock-up wedding and dancing are included. But Drifloon and Drifblim are specifically based on Sky Lanterns ,
not exclusive, but commonly seen during the June Festivities, ranging from ones ranging with a few centimeters to others spanning meters in diameter.
Sky Lanterns are now banned in many parts of the country because of the dangers involved in launching them and landing them, usually resulting in wildfires or
someone being burned. Drifblim is more based on this latter part, causing wildfires and burning stuff. The Tupama region includes gyms instead of Alola's trials,
although with a twist, and I'm planning for one of the gym leaders to be themed after the June Festivities, with Drifblim being one of his signature pokémons.
Well, that's it, I hope you guys liked it. I don't have that many more fakemons sketched for now, so since I'll have to make some more anyways, what do you guys prefer,
the first fakemon in the housefly line (yet another dark type in this dex already full of them, maybe it's too early for it...), another tupaman variant, an evolution for a
Tupaman line that's still incomplete, a new fakemon from a new line or something else?
Any of these options is valid, really.
Well, see you guys next time!

This Fakemon would be perfect in a war, just load them into fireproof bomb canisters and drop them behind enemy lines by B-29. Throw in a few Tupaman Drifloon for good measure. Have you heard of the "Bat Bomb"? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat_bomb

They can feed on whatever left's behind on the battlefield, and then you have a self-sustaining machine of destruction, how lovely!
Yup, I definitely know about the disaster it was.
A Drifblim filled with Drifloons would be a terrifying sight for sure.

Like the cultural influences you went with here. Definitely not something you want to run into at a festival. After all, some pokemon just want to use the world as kindling.

Thanks a bunch!
Drifblim has quite a reputation, so no matter the region or the typing, I have to make him creepy in some way. Buuuurn! burn!

That would make an awesome regional variation for Drifloon.

You're welcome. Did you take influence from kites to make it, by the way?

Of course! My inspiration for it was mostly sky lanterns, but I did look into some kites for it, yes.

Holy crap! Normal Drifloon kidnaps kids while this thing fricking burns them alive for fuel!

I've never said that it specifically targets children, buuuuuut... Yeah, the possibility certainly exists, especially considering their relationship with children as Drifloons. :^)
Although realistically speaking, it shouldn't even be able to fly with something as heavy as a human child inside it... I imagine it "feeds" mainly on pieces of wood and small unfortunate pokémon it finds along the way, the fire it spews while floating about it's what's really dangerous about it.
But parents beware nonetheless.

Yeah. If you made a fan game with these 'Mons, I would probably consider using this on my team.

Would naming a caught one Hindenburg be in very bad taste?
Nice concept for both of these regardless! I'd gladly tame one if it weren't for the risk of being set on fire... I hope to see more variants from you as well, I'm sure they'd look interesting with a South American inspiration!

AtmaFlare In reply to SkarmorySilver [2017-05-17 19:39:25 +0000 UTC]
To me it's morbid and clever in just the right way... And very fitting of course.
As much some official pokémon and some of my own fakemons are painted in such a creepy light, we all known that in the end when trained all of them (or most of them) end up as lovable pets anyway, so as long as you don't try to hug it, I imagine you would have a pretty fun and festive partner at your side. XD
I'll be sure to keep 'em coming, no problem! I'm trying to focus in regional forms with interesting inspirations or reasons behind them, I don't want to just randomly change it's color and type and call it a day.

...I said to you they didn't let me make it explode around people, but I didn't specify what it does now when it's going to explode, so it's totally not dark anymore! Totally ok! :^)))))

I honestly love Drifloon and Drifblim in design (honestly, child napping and soul floating possessed balloons and blimps? just BADASS)

It's like, Gamefreak at their most sadic!...
I remember that I didn't like them at all as a kid when they revealed it for the first time, me and my friends were like: "A Balloon pokémon?! Gamefreak clearly is out of ideas!", and now I absolutely love both of them as well! XD
But well, ghost-types are my favorites in general, so there's some bias there. XD

same here. Sandygast and Pallosand are WAY to overhated.

AtmaFlare In reply to TheRabbitWhoHovers [2017-05-17 00:45:33 +0000 UTC]
I completely agree, it's not like it doesn't make sense, it's a ghost type for god's sake, it can be whatever they want as long as they have an excuse for it!
...I'll take my ghostly sandcastle over those overrated and edgy dragons and wolves any day.

TheRabbitWhoHovers In reply to AtmaFlare [2017-05-17 00:48:44 +0000 UTC]
I like the edgy dragons and wolves, but again the two Ghost-types are super creative for sandcastle Pokemon. So is Klefki-I mean yeah it's a key ring Pokemon, but it's origins make it very creative

I don't have anything (or maybe I do) against them, but at this point I just want the likes of Charizard to burn. (haha burn)
I'll be one of the first to declare my distaste for what the majority of the fanbase considers "cool"... Yeah, I'm one of those annoying hipsters.
About Klefki... I actually draw the line on him.
Vanilluxe isn't actually an ice cream, just resembles one, and inspired humans to create the real thing, Conkeldurr was the one to invent and teach humans how to make concrete, and Garbodor was born from humans polluting the environment. There's a reason behind their somewhat unnatural existence, and I defend they inclusion and their designs, although I'll admit they're somewhat dumb ideas to being with.
Sandygast and Palossand are weird ideas, but they make perfect sense because of their ghost typing and backstory, and their designs are oh so good.
Klefki... Not so much. He's a classical fairy, he steals human stuff, in this case keys, and has a charming and cute design, but I do think his inspiration in a keyring was TOO specific and unnatural, even for pokemon. While I don't hate him, I quite like him actually, I do think he's the biggest stretch in the "object pokemon" department, and doesn't make that much sense even for a fairy type.
... And I mean, it's obvious they just created him to be a steel/fairy, for balancing purposes only, and there could be better ideas to have sprung up from that.

TheRabbitWhoHovers In reply to AtmaFlare [2017-05-17 20:58:13 +0000 UTC]
I honestly understand your opinion on Klefki-I do think that it's design could have been more creative, but again I think it could have been a lot worse. And my opinion on the Vanillite line is exactly the same-they aren't real ice cream, just floating living blocks of ice that are shaped like ice cream.
Honestly in terms of object Pokemon, my least favorite from the newer generations are Swirlix and Slurpuff-I do like Slurpluff a bit more (I mean, yes humanoid cake-stupid, but hey it looks cute). Swirlix-it's literally cotton candy with a face and feet :/
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AtmaFlare In reply to TheRabbitWhoHovers [2017-05-17 21:50:56 +0000 UTC]
Yes, totally, it definitely could be a lot worse. But I have no problem with the design itself, it's very cute, my problem is with the idea.
But I actually do like Swirlix/Slurpuff a lot, it's one of the cutest pokemon designs for me, so I have a lot of bias toward it, even if it still is just as dumb as the others. Tee hee =w=
But hey, at least he's a living animal first and foremost that RESEMBLES a cotton candy!...........Right?....I guess? 8DDD
Object or animal, edgy or cute, there's a place for every pokemon to be appreciated for what they are! 8D
........Except Tympole and Palpitoad, f**k those two.

AtmaFlare In reply to TheRabbitWhoHovers [2017-05-17 22:02:22 +0000 UTC]
...Absolutely nothing, really. It's just that I can't seem to hate any pokemon no matter how ugly, dumb or useless they are... Except for those two, I can't stand them, they're too ugly for me. XDDDD
