Description ARKHAM FILES

INMATE NAME: Edward Nygma (also Eddie Nashton)

ALIAS: The Riddler.

It's no small wonder this man has gone through so many therapists. Just listening to him speak gives me a headache during our sessions. He is, as he so often likes to point out, a genius. He could have done anything he wanted, but turned to crime. He is obsessed with puzzles, riddles, and games of all kinds to the point where everything he says is a riddle of some kind. I believe he has a deep-rooted inferiority complex which causes him to show off his intellect so others will acknowledge his superiority. An odd mental quirk results in Nygma's compulsion to leave clues to his crimes in the form of riddles and puzzles. I believe he secretly wants to be caught, though he will never admit it himself. He claims it is to prove he is smarter than the Batman, by one day stumping the Dark Knight with an unsolvable riddle. He projects an intense rivalry onto the Batman, the primary source of his obsessions. It is my professional opinion that, with extensive treatment to wean him off his riddles and his hatred for the Batman, Edward Nygma can be successfully rehabilitated into society.

PROGNOSIS: POTENTIALLY CURABLE

There is no answer to the first riddle. the creator of it never had one. though i suppose you could argue that they are nevar backwards, and always give out flat notes.
the one below that is the future.
the right top is time
the last... i don't know. i actually don't know. i advertise myself as the riddler incarnate, yet i do not have a legitimate answer to that last riddle. i commend you, good sir, for your riddle-writing capabilities. Out of curiosity, what IS the answer?

You're the first I've seen who knows Carroll's official answer. Yes you could say that, but that makes no sense, just like everything else in the book. XD
It's technically "tomorrow", but future works too.
Correct.
Yay, I stumped a riddler! The answer is a bullet.

a bullet? Huh. never would have guessed something so... modern. It works, though, and the idea and wording is really impressive. Great artistic rendering, great creativity, good all around.
PS thanks for giving me the answer.

Hmm, have you payed attention to the comic books at all? From 2006 to 2010, Riddler actually was temporarily cured of his psychosis due to being hit with a mace during a crisis crossover, and became a private detective and even sane helper for Penguin (the two sane men together). Heck, he even helped Batman at times (though his ego remained). So he was worn off his hate and riddles. Unfortunately, I have have a riddle for you on what happened afterwards.

Riddle me this: What expands from powder, is totally misrepresented in media, and turns a green man evil again?

I don't read much comics at all anymore, and I was never really into the Batman comics. All my love comes from the cartoons and movies. :b I was aware of Riddler's reformation and did read a fun miniseries with him "teaming up" with Batman to solve a case.

I do not, however, know the answer to this riddle. >~<

Riddler: It's my favorite thing of all, An explosion! It knocked me back to "psychosis", though I personally think it allowed me to show my full genius again by going up to defeat "the world's greatest detective". Ah well, with that whole reboot buisness, hopefully I'll defeat the dark knight once and for all this time!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Atomic-Chinchilla In reply to organizationxiiigwen [2012-01-24 03:03:38 +0000 UTC]

The answer to all three is a baby. True it crawls on all fours, but cut off its legs and it can only wiggle on two limbs. Give it a crutch, it can hobble around on three.

A Yo-Yo.(When a yo-yo spins at the end it's called a sleeper and thus considered asleep, An awake yo-yo doesn't move because it's wound up, and a dead yo-yo is a yo-yo that's at the end of the string but not spinning but it can be bought back to life by being wound up thus making it able to be bought back from the dead) Be honest would you ever in any lifetime expect that to be the answer to that riddle?

I made no claim to making it up, so it wasn't "stolen." I know very well that it came from the Hobbit, and the "Raven like a Writing Desk" one is from Alice in Wonderland.
