Description:
Born on the water world of Kamino 32 years before the Battle of Yavin, Alpha-17, or just Alpha as he was known, was a clone of the famed Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett . Specially bred to be an Alpha-class Advanced Recon Commando (ARC) Trooper, ARC Lieutenant Alpha-17 wasn't subjected to the same amount of gene therapy and modifications that the standard clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic went through, save for accelerated aging. This made him and the rest of the Alpha Batch of ARC Troopers far more independent than the rank-and-file clones. That and combined with their training done by their Cuy'val Dar training sergeants and Jango himself made the ARC Troopers the battle equivalent of their original template.
After their training was complete, the ARC Troopers were assigned to serve as instructors to the young clones alongside the Cuy'val Dar at the Tipoca City training facility, with Alpha becoming the lead instructor of the ARC Training Program, with two of his fellow ARC Troopers, ARC Captains Alpha-77 (Fordo) and Alpha-26 (Maze), as assistant instructors, where clone commanders and other officers were taught the intense tactics and skills of the ARC Troopers to better their combat effectiveness. While Alpha-17's trainees were genetically incapable of the feats possessed by ARC Troopers, they grew to become much more versatile than the rank-and-file clone trooper. By the end of the ARC Training Program, most of the graduates had nicknames from Alpha, which they adopted and used the remainder of the upcoming conflict. Of which, some of the notable graduates of the program included Captain Rex & Sergeant Appo of the 501st Legion, Commander Cody of the 212th Attack Battalion and the 7th Sky Corps, Commander Cole of the 29th Crusader Company, Commanders Ponds, Themeron, & Crush of the 187th Legion, Commanders Gree, Faie, & Gett of the 41st Elite Corps and the 9th Assault Corps, Commanders Bly & Deviss of the 327th Star Corps, Commanders Fox, Thorn, Stone, & Lieutenant Thire of the Coruscant Guard, Commander Bacara & Jet of the Galactic Marines and the 21st Nova Corps, Commander Neyo of the 91st Reconnaissance Corps, Commander Wolffe of the 104th Wolfpack Battalion, Commander Davijaan (callsign Oddball) of Clone Flight Squad Seven, Captain Jag of the 127th Gunship Wing, Commander Verd of the 442nd Siege Battalion, and Commanders Blackout, Doom, Fil, Ganch, Granite, Grey, Iron, Jenks, Keller, Kite, Levet, Monnk, Nerve, Salvo, Seven-One, Shadow, & Trauma, and Captains Herc, Howzer, Keeli, Lock, Sharp, Silver, Styles, & Zak.
Following the outbreak of the Clone Wars in the First Battle of Geonosis, a majority of ARC Troopers, including Alpha-17, continued to be stationed on Kamino to continue training the second generation of clone troopers who haven't yet completed their training, while a few like Fordo, Nate/Jangotat, and the Null-class ARC Troopers were immediately called into active duty to bolster the Republic's forces as there weren't enough clone units after Geonosis. The Alpha-class ARC Troopers finally saw action in the First Battle of Kamino, when Separatist Alliance forces led by Commander Merai sought to capture the cloning facilities on Kamino and stop the GAR's production of clone troopers. CIS battle droids were quick to push into the heart of Tipoca City and were nearing the laboratories where the new generations of clones were being produced. So, Prime Minister Lama Su authorized the deployment of the ARC Troopers to hot-spots across Kamino in a last-ditch effort to save the planet's precious cloning facilities. During the fighting to push the droids from Tipoca's central armory, Alpha teamed up with Jedi Master Shaak Ti, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi , and Kenobi's Padawan, Anakin Skywalker . When the city's clone stocks became compromised, Alpha-17 rigged the lab to self-destruct, much to the dismay of the Jedi. Shaak Ti wished there was another way, so Alpha made a strategy for Obi-Wan and Anakin to collapse the transparisteel walls linking the facility while Ti held back the ocean before they sealed the place off. When the plan worked and the attack was successfully repelled, Alpha then aborted the detonation sequence.
Alpha-17 was quickly became infamous in the GAR for his ruthless demeanor towards the Separatists and callous attitude towards his Jedi superiors and the Republic as a whole. Even though he didn't see much in the Jedi Order in general, he did took a liking to Anakin and Obi-Wan after the First Battle of Kamino, and would accompany them, along with Jedi Master Glaive and his Padawan Zule Xiss, on a mission to one of Naboo's moons, Ohma-D'un, to investigate the actions of a new Separatist bio-weapon codenamed "swamp gas" being tested on the Gungan colony there. On Ohma-D'un, they fell under attack from the Gen'Dai bounty hunter Durge and the Rattataki Dark Jedi Asajj Ventress. During the mission, Ventress killed Glaive and wounded Xiss, while Durge attacked Obi-Wan. Meanwhile, under Obi-Wan's orders, Alpha went with Anakin to find and destroy the bio-weapon responsible for the Gungan colony's destruction before it could be let loose on Naboo. After successfully destroying the swamp gas, the two went to link up with Obi-Wan and Xiss, however, Durge took Alpha by surprise on the way back and would have nearly broken him over his knee if Anakin hadn't intervented and fended off the bounty hunter. After regrouping Obi-Wan, they managed to surround Ventress, but she and Durge managed to escape.
After the Mission to Ohma-D'un, Alpha continued to accompany Kenobi and Skywalker on many adventures throughout the Clone Wars' first year, such as in the Battle of Muunilinst, where Alpha fought alongside Captain Rex and Commander Cody, two of his prized trainees from the ARC Training Program, and his brother-in-arms ARC Captain Fordo. On Muunilinst, Alpha, Rex, Cody, alongside Jedi General Voolvif Monn led the men of the Third Systems Army against battle droids in the city streets of Harnaidan, while Obi-Wan and Fordo's elite unit of ARC Troopers-the Muunilinst 10-led an assault against the InterGalactic Banking Clan's main command center. After Kenobi was able to force San Hill and his comrades to surrender and shut down their battle droids, Alpha-17 celebrated with Voolvif Monn and his troops.
As the first year of the Clone Wars was coming to an end, Alpha-17 assisted Anakin and a squad of 501st clone troopers led by Captain Rex in the Mission to Metalorn, where they were tasked in stopping the CIS's production of C-B3 Cortosis Battle Droids. After infiltrating the factory and fighting their way through many of Count Dooku's Dark Acolytes and other top officers, they were successfully able to destroy the C-B3 factory and capture the head of the Techno Union, Wat Tambor.
In the early months of the war's second year, Alpha was once again chosen by Kenobi and Skywalker to accompany them on another important mission. This time, the three were to led the assault during the infamous Battle of Jabiim, which would be the Galactic Republic's most devastating defeat in the entire Clone Wars. In the initial days of the assault, the Republic saw victory after victory until the rain continued to pour and their assault vehicles became bogged down in the mud and became an easy target for the CIS-allied Jabiimi guerrillas. As Republic casualties mounted, the Jabiimi Nationalists, their forces now bolstered with the addition of Separatist battle droids, stepped up their attacks. The Republic was dealt its greatest blow during the battle with the apparent death of Obi-Wan and Alpha while they were clearing out a downed AT-AT.
However, neither Obi-Wan nor Alpha died in the explosion as they actually fell in Separatist custody and were transferred to Ventress' secret prison on her homeworld of Rattatak. Once there, Ventress tried to beat and torture the two of them into revealing sensitive information regarding Republic troop movements, but to no avail. Alpha's ARC Trooper training helped him endure whatever the Rattataki assassin dished out on him. Before she got the information she wanted, however, the two of them escaped under the guise of a prison break with the help of one of Ventress' rivals on Rattatak, a warlord named Osika Kirske. Stealing one of Ventress' Ginivex-class starfighters, Kenobi and Alpha managed to escape her grasp, but they were pursed by a gang of smugglers hired by Ventress and above the nearby planet of Riflor, they were shot down and crash-landed on the planet. Although the two survived the crash, they still had Ventress' goons to deal with it. Obi-Wan and Alpha could've have died if hadn't been for Anakin, who was hunting pirates on Varonat with his interim master Ki-Adi-Mundi, and Skywalker sensed Kenobi's nearby presence and begged to come to his aid, which Mundi granted.
Not long after Anakin's and Obi-Wan's reunion and spending several weeks in a bacta tank on the hospital world of New Holstice, Alpha was transferred out of the Third Systems Army and returned to Kamino as an instructor to continue training future clone commanders and old ones called back from the field in the ARC Training Program. During his time on Kamino, Alpha was promoted to the rank of ARC Captain, and he and the other Alpha-class ARC Troopers would be issued experimental versions of Phase II clone trooper armor, which wouldn't be utilized by all clones till almost midway into the Clone Wars' third year.
While Alpha would sit in the sidelines for most of the Clone Wars' mid-years, he would again see some action in the Second Battle of Kamino, when CIS forces, now led by General Grievous and Asajj Ventress, attempted to destroy the cloning facilities. Alpha, Fordo, and the other ARC Troopers would push back the Separatists with the help of Shaak Ti, Obi-Wan Kenobi (now Jedi Master and a member of the Jedi High Council), Anakin Skywalker (who was recently appointed the position of Jedi Knight sometime after Jabiim), Captain Rex, and Commander Cody. In the battle's aftermath, Alpha mourned the loss of several of his first-generation brothers who died in the defense of their home, including defective yet helpful clone 99 and two fellow ARC Troopers Colt and Havoc. However, they would be some good to come in this as Alpha submitted the five members of Domino Squad: Fives, Echo, Hevy, Cutup, and Droidbait, into ARC Trooper Training for their valiant service during the battle.
Into the later stages of the war, Alpha-17 was promoted to ARC Commander. He gathered many of his former trainees and other clone specialists, forming his own specialized team of elite clones called Squad Seven, with Commanders Rex, Cody, Cole, Fox, Gree, Bly, Bacara, Neyo, Wolffe, and Oddball as its leaders, while he, Fordo, and Major Jorir oversaw the squad's day-to-day operations.
Squad Seven would first see action in the beginning of the war's third year in 20 BBY, when the Separatists launched an attack on Naboo's capital city of Theed. Although the 87th Sentinel Corps stationed on the planet managed to fend off the initial attack, they found themselves overwhelmed by reinforcements brought there by a Providence-class Dreadnaught. Alpha-17 led Squad Seven, alongside with troopers of the 501st Legion, were sent to Theed to reinforce the 87th, where they succeeded in boarding the dreadnought and issuing a shut-down order to all battle droids on Naboo from the warship's secondary bridge.
In the second month of the Clone Wars' third year, the Confederacy of Independent Systems begun their most daring offensive against the Republic: Operation Durge's Lance, where General Grievous and Durge led the combined forces of the CIS First and Third Fleets across the Corellian Trade Spine, conquering and ravaging many of the Core Worlds in the process. Alpha, Fordo, Jorir, Rex, Cody, Cole, Fox, Gree, Bly, Bacara, Neyo, Wolffe, Oddball, and Jag were stationed aboard Captain Terrinald Screed's Victory I-class Star Destroyer, the Arlionne, as part of the Victory Fleet defending the Hosnian System from the CIS's new fleet of Techno Union Bulwark warships, one kilometer long armored behemoths that could smash through smaller starships. Jedi Master Koen'nar and his squad of clone commandos infilitrated the Bulmark Mark I Unrepentant, which was carrying the prototype of a new CIS Bio-Droid, but they were killed by General Grievous himself and the new Terror Bio-Droid aboard the warship. Accompanying Jedi Master Saesee Tiin, Squad Seven intercepted the Unrepentant to complete Master Koen'nar's mission. With the combined might of Tiin and Squad Seven were destroy the Terror Bio-Droid, allowing the Victory Fleet to heavily decimate the Bulmark Fleet before they could reach Hosnian Prime, but Grievous escaped at the last minute.
Squad Seven would undertake another mission in the aftermath of Operation Durge's Lance, on the Corporate Sector chief port world of Bonadan. The Republic would then launch a counterattack on the Separatists' most fortified bastions in what would become known as the Outer Rim Sieges. Alpha, Rex, Cody, and Oddball would assist Obi-Wan and Anakin, along with Admiral Wulif Yularen and Anakin's young Padawan Ahsoka Tano, in the Battle of Bonadan, after the Separatists invaded the chief port world of the Corporate Sector. Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Alpha, and Cody would led the 212th Attack Battalion and other elements of the Third Systems Army in the ground assault, while Anakin and Oddball led their space forces against the CIS fleet orbiting the planet. They were successful of liberating Bonadan's capital city Siccus and decimating the enemy fleet, but their victory was short-lived as Separatist reinforcements led by former Jedi Master turned Dark Jedi Sora Bulq arrived. Holding out within Siccus, the Republic forces was instantly overwhelmed by the bolstered droid legions and would've been destroyed if not for a last-minute rescue by Torrent Company led by Anakin and Rex. With Bonadan lost to the Separatist Alliance, the Republic retreated from the Bonadan System.
Alpha-17 and Squad Seven were called back into action once again by General Kenobi after Bonadan on a mission to the Mandalorian colony world of Krownest. Their objective was to infiltrate and destroy a weapons factory overseen the CIS-allied Death Watch. A squad of 212th troopers led by Commander Cody and including Boil, Crys, Wooley, Trapper, Gearshift, Longshot, Barlex, Sketch, Gus, and Jester, were able to enter the factory and go through squads of security and commando droids pretty easily. But they quickly learned that they were in over their heads when they discovered that the factory was producing heavily-armed Mech Suits based off of old war droids that fought during the ancient Mandalorian Crusades. Cody and his men were then completely overwhelmed and outgunned by several battle droids, Mandalorians, and Mech Suits, but they would be aided by reinforcements in the form of Kenobi and Alpha, accompanied by the famed Muunilinst 10 led by Captain Fordo. During the struggle, Alpha and Fordo fought hand-to-hand with Death Watch's Pre Vizsla, until Vizsla switched from fighting with his fists to the Darksaber. However, the two ARC Troopers were saved when General Kenobi and a couple of ARC Troopers came to rescue. Realizing that he was no match to the Jedi Master and elite clones, Vizsla escaped Krownest, along with two of his chief lieutenants Bo-Katan Kryze and Gar Saxon, Squad Seven and the Muunilinst 10 were able to take control of the factory and destroy the Mech Suit prototypes, but not without their losses, as they've lost a significant number of men such as Sketch and Jester, and Longshot was severely burned by Bo-Katan's flamethrower when he tried to prevent Death Watch to escape.
Throughout the Clone Wars' fourth and final year, Squad Seven continued to conduct many successful operations during the war's waning months, from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim. Alpha-17 was later chosen to accompany Senator Bail Organa on his tour of the Outer Rim Sieges aboard the Venator-class Star Destroyer Intervention. When the Intervention was commandeered by General Kenobi in order to lead the Battle of Boz Pity, Alpha readied himself for yet another battle. During the fighting, Alpha was critically wounded by General Grievous himself, so much so that it was thought he'd never walk again. As hostilities wound down, Alpha, along with the supposed corpse of Asajj Ventress, was loaded onto a medical transport and sent back to Coruscant for treatment. En route, however, Ventress proved very much alive when she took control of the transport and ordered its pilots to take her far into the Unknown Regions, where her and Alpha would never be seen or heard from again....
Alpha's fate remains unknown to this very day, and many of his clone brethren on Kamino mourned his loss after his disappearance at Boz Pity, so much so that he'll remembered in the minds of his former trainees in the ARC Training Program. Many years after the end of the Clone Wars, into the later stages of the Galactic Civil War, Captain Rex (now a Colonel in the Rebel Alliance, later New Republic, Army) would found his own group of clone deserters, rebel commandos, anti-troopers who survived the Kamino Uprising, and even Republic Loyalist members of the 501st Legion called Alpha Battalion, in remembrance of his older brother who trained him long ago....
I hope you guys enjoy it!
