Description
My thanks again to everyone who made it out to the livestream on short notice - and witnessed all my little OCD moments with his arm and painting all of Noctis' doodads on his sword. Hope you guys enjoyed yourselves with that.
This was a very fun and very demanding piece that constantly required so much refining that I eventually had to stop myself from overdoing the painting.
This walkthrough is made not as a tutorial but as a way to see the overall development between the initial WIP I had from the livestreams and the finalized step.

This is such a great transformation. It makes me sad that more artists of your caliber don't take the time to show their fans their step-by-step process with such humorous commentary. I find this all very fascinating. Congrats on the well earned DD!

As a complete non-artist, I can't express how fascinatig it is to see the process! The end result isn't half bad either. fav'ed on both!

I woulda loved it all dark and everything, but then it wouldn't look all that great in print. So that's my compromise.

I knew his name was Noctis, but... Noctis Lucis Caelum?
Light of the Night Sky?
I already hate this guy...
Doesn't change the fact that this is an AWESOME tutorial, though!

Yeah, I tend to ignore the weird use of latin and make silly variations of his name for the hell of it.
On another note, technically speaking this here ain't a tutorial as it's not telling people what to do and how to do it.
That fun experimental stuff I usually leave to everyone else to figure out. If they get it themselves, they'll own it.

where on earth did you find the reference for his swords - i've been scouring the net for ages D :
also - nice step by step process, love the angle you went with, and the details are crisp. Great paintstrokes also

There was one screenshot that had all the swords materializing at once, but they were obscured by low res and a bajillion glass shards. I ended up having to wing the details on my own.

Patience is something I seem to have in abundance, even though my mind's going at 200 mph.
