Tutorial - Your Own AvatarMany deviants wonder how to have their own personalized avatars, or icons - if you prefer.
I have already created a tutorial showing how I made many of my customized avatars - you can check it here - but since it's very old, I decided to create a new onel. : )
It is big, since I tried to put as many information as possible.
Also, bare in mind that this tutorial is explained in a simple way, so even beginners and newbies will understand it.
I hope it will help!
Firstly, I will teach how to set your avatar.
If you already know, feel free to skip this step.
This step is for the new deviants that are still not used to deviantART mechanics.
1) Go to your profile. Click over the place where your icon will be - on the left top side of your profile.

Some people asked me how i make my avatars. I made this tutorial to show everyone !
In this tutorial, you will be able to learn how to make your own avatar and also how to submit it on deviant art.
This is the way i do them, and it doesn't mean that it is the right way to do it. you can do things in another way if you want to. : )

Ok I must be doing something wrong because I feel like I've tried everything, but I cant get my image smaller than 50kb! :S Iv tried saving it as GIF and JPEG and lowering the res etc but nothings working! Gaaarrrghh!
So now I just look like an avatarless douche!

well, that can happen for many reasons. is it in the correct size? (50x50 px) what program are you using to do your avatar? is it animated?

lol i got an idea! XD err.. if u do have a facebook.. k now.. i know this is really hopeless but.. oh well.. make a pic ur primary pic on facebook then go to home.. as you can see.. save ur avatar in a little icon then use it as an avatar here on Deviant art

so you need photoshop to make a icon or what

in my opinion photoshop is the best software to make an icon, but if you'd like, there are more similar programs that you can use to make your own avatar. : )

*sighs* I tried it and everything. It worked untill I uploaded it and it said "This is more than 15kb." I don't know how to fix that

Mappley managed to figure the problem was that I had uploaded my image in the wrong file format. Still, thank you this helped me alot with image shrinking.
