Description About the creation of the tutorial

Made with Apophysis 2.04 Beta and Photoshop CS2.

I used the font because it seemed the easiest to use and read. Text in photoshop is a pain in the ass and every line of text is a seperate layer and it took a long time to line up and type.

I put the purple in because I think it looks good .

Both the fractal examples are pieces made by me, and are both deviations in my gallery.

This is my first tutorial, so any constructive criticism is appreciated.

This took my hours to make, much longer than I expected, I hope that next time it wont take so long lol.

About the content of the tutorial

THe name is not wrong, nor is it refering to fractals as "patterns", this tutorial focus' on patterns created from the triangles in the transform editor, however I have went on about anything I thought might help.

If you have any tips to add please note me or comment here, I appreciate all the help I can get.

If you have any questions or problems please feel free to ask.

Terms

You can use this, and I hope it helps you. You do not need to mention this in the description but I'ld appreciate it.

Also you do not need to, but if you want please send me a note with a link to the deviation you created so I can see what was created.

Have fun, and good luck.

Thanks for not taking this down. It has really helped me to understand what the triangles do.

Well, as credit is due.....this is very basic as I am new to really doing these fractals "properly"....but this is what I learnt in a few minutes from your tutorial.....no scripts used.... [link] thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, that's very good, I'm glad I could help you. Looking back over my tutorial I think it is poorly written, and was considering removing it. But I guess I made the right decision by being lazy .

Ohhhhhh.no, please don't remove it.....your tutorial made it so easy for me to take in some things that simply were not being taught i such a practical manner.........so, I am very happy you were "lazy"........thank you!!!!

Thank you for this......I am one of those who really needs to know how to start from absolute beginnings on my own.....and this has helped SO much.....I have a fractal rendering now......basic by your standards, but for me a real help......

Thank you for this tutorial. I really appreciate people, like you, who take the time to help others learn more about Apo.

Any chance of blowing this tut up some? At high resolution the words are really microscopic. Inkscape or Scribus might save you some time with text layouts instead of trying to pull them off in PS.

I dont know about those programs however if it is a problem I'll copy the test out of the .PSD and paste it into a text file for download (or I could even add it to the description). I made that tutorial long ago, and would have deleted it already if it wasnt so popular.

The text that goes with it would be cool, but do you have larger images of the screen snaps too? Inkscape is like Illustrator, and Scribus is a desktop publishing package. They are both free and excellent for setting text with graphics.

Here's my first Apophysis fractal: [link]

It was a good tutorial but I was initially working with 2.02 and couldnt find the controls you were using. Then I got 2.04beta and was able to better understand what was going on in your tutorial. Hope you write some more!

I'm glad I could help I also 'ed it .

And about writing more, once I have a style of fractal which I have a step by step method on creating I will, but currently I wrote this as just a general thing, as I know people who dont touch the triangles, and just change values and use random batch.

I *might* write one showing what different positioning of triangles does, but that wont be for a while.

Dont give me that , Aphophysis is an easy program to use as long as you dont try to understand it from the begging . You change values, move triangles etc. until you get something you like.

Read this: [link]

And then you are set!

I expect you to be posting fractals soon .

I'm glad I converted you, I knew I could do it . If I can get Apophysis working you sure as hell can.
