Description
Note: I apologize in advance--if you full-view this, which I do highly recommend, you will find that it is a rather TREMENDOUSLY HUGE file. By huge I mean a resolution of about 1200x1200. So it might take a minute to load, and you'll probably have to scroll around to look at all the details.Anyway...
Yes! The long-awaited fur tutorial is here. It's not very thorough, I think, but...it was late when I created it and, sketchy though it may be, I think it gets the basic point across.
Keep in mind this is a tutorial based on Photoshop as the art program. I might try to make more later, for different programs.
Give it a try, and show me what you can make! And please do let me know if this tutorial helped you at all. ^_^

A wonderful tutorial. Concise, yet detailed enough to clearly explain to the reader how the steps go.
Thanks for the tutorial, by the way... I'm going to try it sometime in the near future :3

Great tutorial.
This tutorial does not need to be changed for the majority of paint programs, GIMP, Painter, and I think even PaintShop all use exactly the same tools/techniques.

gosh! I know how to do that, but i can't get the fur brush to go in different directions. It all just goes in a curved line. How do you make it go in another direction?

What if you're doing blue and like, rainbow shades? Would you like, go over it with a tool of that color?

ballistic-kitten In reply to Zyeta [2006-08-17 18:46:59 +0000 UTC]
I've found that the same technique works for all colours, but in the situation of creating rainbow shading effects in fur, it might be better to try and use the dodge and burn tools as much as possible if you're going to use my method that way you don't have to switch brush colours so much. ^_^

That's a really good method, looks like it takes a while, but with very beautiful results... I'm going to try it on my characters, see how that looks. X) Good work.
