Description
So last time I covered something familiar, now I'm covering something completely new. Shout-outs to for his really cool concept that never got fleshed out. Artist's note: I figured out how to make custom card templates in Photoshop, this being the first of many, so expect a lot of cool stuff in the future. So Deck Masters, as the name implies these are the front-runners of your Deck. The big boss, the head honcho, the sergeant major. There are other interpretations of the Deck Master concept where the Deck Master has an effect before and when it hits the field. I would have went along with this trend, but I had a lot of trouble trying to recreate that card structure. This actually inspired me to think of a different take on the concept. Instead of being a type of overseer for the rest of your field, much like the established concepts, I thought a Deck Master should be your second-in-command. Deck Masters reside in the Master Zone, which is kind of like the Banished Zone in that it doesn't have a defined place on the field but its still a place on the field. You can only have one alongside your Deck. When it comes to deck building, Deck Masters have their own "Master Deck". You can have a selection of 3 different Deck Masters that you can use during a match. You cannot swap out Deck Masters between rounds so choose wisely.
So that's the purpose of Deck Masters, but how do you use them? The card will state how you Special Summon it to the field be it Tributing, banishing or otherwise. Deck Masters have no level/rank/whatever and if they would leave the field for whatever reason they return to the Master Zone. You cannot Special Summon a Deck Master the same turn it returns to the Master Zone. The TP on the right side above the artwork is the Turn Penalty, which represents how many of your turns you have to wait before you can Special Summon your Deck Master again. TP is reduced during each of your Standby Phases. You also can't use a Deck Master as Material for any type of Summon, nor can you Tribute it of flip it face-down for any reason. On the left side above the artwork, you can see that Deck Masters have a Life Point value. Since a Deck Master is a monster, your opponent has to get through it before they can get to you. If your opponent has a card that pierces, the pierce damage is applied to your Deck Master by default. If there is any card that gives you LP, reduces LP, requires you to pay LP or applies Effect Damage then it can be applied to your Deck Master instead of you if you so wish.
So, while this may sound cool on paper, is it really that strong? A Deck Master is just as targetable and removable as any other monster so what's so special? Well, since they have no level/rank/whatever then they are unaffected by cards that affect monsters with levels/ranks/whatever (*cough* Ophion *cough* *cough* Towers *cough*). You can't Tribute it, so Kaijus can't get rid of it. You can't flip it face-down, which negates a lot of cards that quash card effectiveness in a less conventional fashion. Also it can't get stuck in an undesirable zone of no return. Some monsters can't come back from the banished zone, once they're there they're there (awkward sentence is awkward). Deck Masters always return to the Master Zone and can always come back without the need to use cards to search them, add them to your hand, etc. The Turn Penalty just ensures that this power can't be abused every turn, your opponent still needs time to counter-play you and you still have a full deck at your disposal.
Frankly, I'd love to see a format with this mechanic implemented. Having your ace monster literally beside you just feels awesome in my mind. I think it would be fun trying to discern a player's style solely on their Deck Master, but something tells me that won't matter. Yu-Gi-Oh players will kill somebody to draw two cards, so the method of winning isn't that important as long as you win. Note: this doesn't apply to everyone, this was just a mini-rant/tangent that relates. Next time grab your Polymerizations...or just ditch them since we're teaching the old dog named Fusion some new tricks.
Chronicle-Eye Guardian Drake (LIGHT)
LP: 4000 TP: 3
[Wyrm/Deck Master]
Lore: You can Special Summon this card from your Master Zone by Tributing all monsters you control (min. 3). Unaffected by Trap Cards. If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, it can attack again. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that would destroy a card(s) on the field: You can send 1 monster from your hand or Deck to the Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.
ATK: 4000 DEF: 3000
I do not own the artwork (which belongs to its respective owner/s), the game of Yu-Gi-Oh (which is © of Konami and Kazuki Takahashi) or the template I used to make this. I made this using a Series 9 version of Magic Set Editor that I have heavily customized with a little help from Photoshop.

Nope. It just goes back to where you summoned it from. The TP in the top right hand corner is how many of your turns you have to wait before summoning it back. You still lose like you would otherwise.
