Interesting map. An interesting fact, along the Iranian-Soviet border east of the Caspian is a significant Turkmen population. I was thinking that the Soviets would want that territory as well.

In the book, he was an "incident" in Azeri part of Iran. Ot was the perfect excuse for USSR to grab a piece of territory.
