Description Hey everyone! Long time no update... I've been facing a sort of art block/style crisis/depression mix lately and haven't been able to finish anything. It's been 2 years since I first filled out this meme and it really helped at the time (you can easily see by my gallery that I was at peak productivity on the first half of 2016). My biggest influences have changed since that time, as I now have different stylistic preferences, a better eye for art and a wider range of influences, and they have evolved as artists themselves, so I thought I'd do an updated version!

1. tinypaint (and her comic Ava's Demon) is here not only because she's the reason I got into digital art and comics, but also because her art is consistenly amazing (of all the artists I liked back then, Michelle's one of the few who's still on this list because she's been constantly improving). Her style is exactly as painterly and as cartoony as I aspire to be able to do someday. On Ava's Demon, every panel she draws is a work of art in and of itself, as is the set as whole. Plus, it's got some awesome story, characters and worldbuilding. Well, you get it. I just love her art, like, a lot haha
2. I was running out of space with this map so I had to fit Animation as a whole in just this square, but if I was being frank, studios like Pixar (Finding Nemo, Coco, Inside Out, Toy Story), Ghibli (Princess Kaguya, Grave of the Fireflies, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, The Wind Rises) Disney (Lilo and Stitch, The Emperor's New Groove, Zootopia), DreamWorks (The Road to El Dorado, Shrek, Spirit, Sinbad, The Prince of Egypt), Laika (Coraline, ParaNorman, Kubo and the Two Strings), and cartoons such as Steven Universe, Bee and Puppycat, Star vs the Forces of Evil, Over the Garden Wall, Danny Phantom, Total Drama Island, etc, all deserved they individual space. I also didn't have room to fit in series and movies that inspire me. And I could also throw in theatre (mainly musicals), installations, architecture (I'm actually an architecture student) and performative art influences... But oh well... Let's just say that this box stands for other types of visual art, mainly Audiovisual, and they deserve an Influence Map of their own (which is only fitting, since I'd like to be an art director one day).
3. ALEXAst  and the His Dark Materials trilogy, by Philip Pullman, also retain their place. The former because her's is the best fanart for the series I've found to date and also because her unbelievably beautiful watercolors have been influencing me to search for a rough and sensible traditional side to my art even in the digital medium; and the latter because they're my favorite books, that basically shaped the way I think as a teen and inspired my love for storytelling. This box also stands secondarily for books and comics, mainly children and young adult books like Peter Nimble, Plain Kate, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games and Uglies, but also works by Alexandre Dumas, Aluísio Azevedo Carlos Drummond de Andrade and Manuel Antônio de Almeida and of course my favorite book of all time: The Egyptian, by Mika Waltari. Plus some awesome comics and manga which I also couldn't fit in (argh), like Scott Pilgrim, Ghostopolis, Blankets, Death Note, Battle Royale and works by Junji Ito (tbh I'm totally freaking out now as I remeber many things that didn't make into the map - can I fit languages and music also in this box? oh god).
4. pepurika or leppu (and her comic Prague Race). Petra has been a big influence on me since I found her comic some 4 years ago, both in terms of art style and worldbuilding. Her characters, universe and linework are delightfully complex, which I absolutely love. She also works traditionally, which is tough for me, but still a big inspiration.
5. Gorrem I haven't known Devon Candy-Lee for a very long time, appart from seeing some of his work on tumblr. I met him through playing Gigantic (which is a crazy beautiful game, thanks not only to him but also Vinod Rams and other artists), but I've already fallen in love with his art. Whatever sorcery he's doing to make his colors and shapes look so good, I wanna learn how to do.
6. Charlie-Bowater  is a big inspiration to me as well for her beautiful coloring and compositions and also how her illustrations tell really compeling stories.
7. Gorillaz. Everything about them is really inspirational: from the original sonority of the music and the stylized drawings of Jamie Hewlett to the very concept of the band.
8. Edward Hopper. All of his paintings are an inspiration, his compositions, the way he contrasts colors and light/shadow... But this one specifically, Soir Bleu... There's something about it that's really compeling to me... Maybe it's how unsettling it is or maybe I just identify with the concept... Also I like how it's more painterly than most of his other work, it stands out. On that subject, Traditional painting in general, specially Oil Painting is also a big inspiration to me, since I do Landscape paintings myself. Artists like John Constable, Monet, van Gogh, Xiangyuan Jie are also idols of mine.
9. Ravietta  I met through deviantart and instantly fell in love with her animation and beautiful illustrations. There's such a flow to what she draws and animates, and her skill is unmatched, it's amazing.
10. shoomlah has some beautiful art. I love her style, her designs and her portfolio is #goals
11. sarucatepes I've learned a lot about digital painting and the art world from her videos on youtube. Her style is very unique and her art is just beautiful.

As always, be sure to check all of their galleries, you won't regret it!
