Download for better view. And I have something to say about the 7th step: choose the color you want to erase with LEFT click, then you erase it (or recolor it in white) with RIGHT click.
This is a tutorial for all the people out there asking how I make my bases.
It's very simple, guys, really.
You just have to get used to it!
PS: the rubber tool is simply the ERASER. Okay?

You should change the file into a png when you are recoloring it.

Did you save in the same canvas? Copy the whole image and put it in a completely new one. Then save as a .png

if you press new, then paste it back on paint, you should be able to use other colours

MS Paint is the normal paint that comes on the computer isn't it? Or at least very similar?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
BronyBase In reply to SakuMulti [2013-03-07 17:24:13 +0000 UTC]
Yep, it's the preinstalled paint of the computer. However Mac computers don't have it

Sure you can! I'm using the new version on Paint on Windows 7, it's almost the same!

Huh, if you hate the #7 part. Just simply download GIMP 2.6.2!! That way, you can get the picture on one LAYER and you can trace the picture (for the base) on ANOTHER LAYER! when you're done, just simply delete the layer of the picture of Mrs Cake or somepony else etc. And you will be left with only your trace lines, no need to sit there for hours of rubbing it out.. It's much easier, and it's what I always do ~

I already have the udated version of GIMP, still I found more difficult to use layers (maybe because I'm not used to)

I sometimes think it's hard, but I just made a base of Twilight Sparkle as a filly in less than 15 minutes with it! (You can change the mouth to a mare or a stallion too) ;D
GIMP is kind of hard to get used to, but I don't blame you. Making it in paint is kinda hard for me, but my other friend draws amazingly in paint like you. If you want here she is & ~

Does she draws with a mouse? If so, she's really good at drawing wolves ^^

Aww n problem darling!
And yes, yes she does draw with a mouse. Although she is very sad that she isn't "popular" and thinks that no one likes her art because no one compliments it or comments.

if your pony has clothes and you wanna keep it that way should you outline the clothes?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
BronyBase In reply to DoctorHealy [2013-02-18 18:17:26 +0000 UTC]
If you want to keep them, yes Or you could do a version with and one without clothes, so everyone can decide which one to pick.

DoctorHealy In reply to BronyBase [2013-02-19 01:18:21 +0000 UTC]
thank you! but should i use a different color than the pony?
👍: 0 ⏩: 2
Prettyxmouse In reply to DoctorHealy [2013-02-19 15:33:44 +0000 UTC]
That would be easier, yes. Or else you might mix up and think that is part of the pony and in the end it will look like a mess! So use different colours for different parts of the pony, for example, green for the body, and red for the eyes. Blue for the clothes and maybe yellow for the hair. You don't have to trace hair/clothes if you don't want to.
