Description OK, THIS IS NOT A PHOTOGRAPH !

Probably the most innovative device in the history of video games, the Wiimote is also an excellent modeling and rendering exercise. My objective for this little training was to be insanely faithful to the real design, and achieve a photorealistic render.

Modeled, textured in 3dsMax 9, rendered with Vray 1.5.

This is simply excellent - really accurate modelling, texturing, and especially lighting. Awesome job, i dont think people would think it wasn't real unless you told them

Great exercise and rendering ! Actually I never used the v-ray renderer, but it seems great... did the rendering time was very long for this picture ?

bryanxander In reply to Chatmusse [2008-06-08 09:37:17 +0000 UTC]

Not that much, I rendered a 768*1024 px picture, it took about 15 minutes (I didn't time it exactly but during the process I went all the way through the mushroom cup at Mario Kart ).

If you consider my laptop has only a 2 GHz CPU, this was really not a big render.

I started using Vray a few weeks ago and I'm starting to find it a lot more powerful and easy to use that mental

Thanks I'm seriously thinking about using V-ray instead of mental ray....

bryanxander In reply to Chatmusse [2008-06-09 22:23:56 +0000 UTC]

'hotography' rather than 'hotograph'?

photography - art or practice of taking and processing photographs
photograph - picture made using a camera
