Description
Can't help it, I'm a huge fan of Paul VerhoevenA little tribute to ED-209, the most badass and poorly programmed robot in the history of cinema. Primarily designed for urban pacification, it turns out to be incapacitated by.... stairs, manholes and 8 years old girls
3dsmax 9, Vray 1.5, Photoshop CS3

Great job. As others have stated, best ED-209 art ever seen.
You'd have mentioned that it's good at blasting OCP executives... poor Mr. Kinney.

One of the greatest mecha of all time, great tribute: wonderful textures, lighting, and thematically accurate environment.

awesome!
ItΒ΄s plenty of details, the light in the corridor between the foot makes it part of the scene and the weapons are not symetrical

My friend showed me this and told me you did this in four days, I just started with 3d going on two months now and I gotta say this is pretty darn bad ass. especailly knowing what a hassle modeling can be.

Looks great.

Not at all, there is a WIP link above, the bottom right picture shows the render as it came out of 3ds.
Basically I changed the color tones and drew very subtle details here and there. For instance I put additional highlights on some edges and very light dirt maps. I wanted to do a "clean" render though, so only the color correction is obvious

Wow that is a totally awesome render. ...wow...really great...I really love how the shapes of the robot are illuminated...

There is a short part about lighting and rendering in this one I wrote : [link]
But the thing is, lighting is difficult to explain, it's something you try over and over until you get what you wanted.
Thanks for the kind comment
