Hey you!
You got a pretty nice model going on here.
However, I think you should practice making models that can be imported into Engines or used for more purposes. Having all the details put into the model...is not really how anyone does it anymore. Especially at 250k
I'm under the impression you smoothed it and it's not actually that size? That's an awful big size for a model if it is.
I recommend sculpting details in a program like Zbrush or Mudbox; as you can see at Samus's ass, it's very flat looking. Her hands are too even, flat and not curved. Her shoulder blades at the back need to be more defined (since she's wearing a body suit) and people's arms are much curvier do to muscle mass then just straight like the upper arm you have. Zbrush or mudbox, you can fix all these with just a simple sculpt. I recommend decreasing the poly size though before you import it into zbrush, or if you want to keep it this high poly, Zbrush will be able to load it as long as it has a uv map
(The higher poly model you have, the harder a uv map is).
Giving her a bit more narrow face will make her look more feminine. Right now she has kind of a square jaw happening, and rounding that out will make it better (Again, hard to see from the angle).
But it's getting there! I love what you did with her hair and face..especially the strand like feel to the hair.
Can't wait to see this textured!
(Sorry, I always give critiques on 3D models..I only like critiquing stuff I like though And i like your model)

Okay I'll try to answer each point
Yeah the (insane) polycount takes the smoothing into account (15K only before smoothing), the difference would be minor if I reduced it, but time is not an issue here, only aspect is. But I don't feel very concerned about what "everyone does", I do still renders of high poly rigged characters because well, that's what I enjoy doing
- I definitely want to give a try to Zbrush, but not on this model. Samus' suit is very slick. Not that nothing can be done, but I would prefer to start with Zbrush with a more 'relevant' subjects.
The issues you mentioned are perfectly true though and they're meant to be corrected (on the model or in photoshop after the render, it will depend). Except maybe for the flatness of the hands , when they're rigged and the bones put in a more natural posture, the hand will lose this flatness (a flat hand is easier to handle during modeling). There will definitely be a proportions tweaks in the end, especially for the face.
Thanks a lot for the critique

damn....250,000'ish faces? That's a hell lot.
Is this the high poly version or something? Z-brush/mudbox exported model...?

It's just a low poly model with a 2-pass meshsmooting. I know the poly count is very high, but I don't have a limited budget.

zbrush basically lets you sculpt in 3D, while in most programs you have to set the polygons one by one or chunks by chunks, in zbrush you can start with a base mesh, and move little parts around as though you were sculpting with clay
its lots of fun too

Zbrush is not free; but I think it has a 30 day free trial.
Mudbox is another sculpting program about on the same level as Zbrush, I don't reccommend going for Blender though...it's not a program studios use or a good way to sculpt things.
To further answer your question on Zbrush,
Zbrush is a high rendering/poly manipulation tool. It's used to sculpt an object and put in fine details that you cannot do in normal 3D modeling programs. It creates an amazing normal map that you can then import back into the 3D modeling program you were using (like Maya) and show the details of the sculpt on the actual file.
Although it is correct to say it's like sculpting with Clay to help bring out your model, it's also correct to saying if you don't have a Tablet for the pc...it's useless to get any poly manipulation program.
Like trying to work with clay with mittens on, thats how it feels when you sculpt and manipulate with zbrush with a mouse. I hope this has helped. If you want to see a couple of Zbrush examples, head over to my gallery page, I have two beginner models up sculpted in Zbrush

im pretty sure it does have a free trial
if not, blender has sculpting abilities too, and that one IS fully free, get it @ blender.org

[link]
It's a digital sculpting software
Basically it allows you to carve a digital model with your cursor (or more conveniently a tablet pen).
